Hey all, just wanted to put the feelers out to see who would be coming to Atlanta for GD Atlanta this year? RedDawn and I are both going to attend, and this will be the first GD for both of us.

We were hoping that those of you who are coming would like to have a gathering of some sort. Let us know if you will be there and maybe we can all find a place to gather.

Dwight, I figured you were going to be there. I\'m pretty sure that Nathan (FF) said that he was planning on going as well. Will be interesting to see who else is planning on coming in for the event.

Rodnik (Kevin) was still undecided last time I talked to him. I think he plans to be there, but I don\'t think he\'s bringing an entry this year. I imagine Kep will be there, and I think Malfoy said he was coming again this year as well.

I\'ll definitely be there, with two of my gaming buddies in tow. They likely won\'t be entering the competition -- one isn\'t a painter, and the other hasn\'t had time to work on an entry. Still a little less than a month left, though, so who knows.

We should talk Frustrated Father into bringing his WotC dragon with him so we can all take turns trying to put it together. <snickers>

well i wont be going.
have to get up and start driving at 2 am just to be there at start time. or go down and spend the night...then the next night and drive home the day after....

too expensive. and tiring. 6 hours drive each way. heck i haven\'t even been to the GW store cause its 2.5 hours away.

if they only had more they would get larger turnouts. one on west coast...2 on east and one in midwest..... :rolleyes:

and in march. ???

well hope you people have fun. you lucky $#%#^ that live in atlanta. :moon:

do me a favor and tell me if they doing bits by the pound anymore.

Sorry you can\'t make it for GD. I understand about the long trip. That\'s the reason I never went to GD Baltimore. I\'m amazed at the folks in Europe and Russia that will travel so far to get to their GD events. I know our two russian painters Margo and Alexi_z both flew from Moscow to London for GD last year.

I\'ll let you know if they are selling bits by the pound this year... ;)

Ya\'ll can put the bugger together, I\'ll just drink a few beers and snicker at ya\'ll in the process.

Actually, cash wise the wife is going to kill me if I \'buy\' a ticket so I\'m entering a contest on Wednesday to win one at the local store painting contest. Dunno if I\'ll win or not (hell trying to just finish the entries now) but considering the \'talent\' that I\'ve seen at the last couple, I\'m optimistic.

We\'ll see, specially with Lockheed likely going on strike (that would be me holding the picket sign on TV then), winning that ticket is the only way I\'ll be going.

I had very intention of going, but my income tax refund literally evaporated before my very eyes (bloody bills). At this rate I\'m just hoping to make it to Baltimore\'s GD.

If some freak rush on low-demand items I have on eBay happens, then perhaps I can make it. But with only 18 days to go, I\'m not optimistic. :(

*EDIT: And good to see some staunch union men around, FF! It\'s nigh-impossible to get a union job in this State without working at the Space Center (nigh-impossible to get a job there, period). :]

AH, the strike....Went through that a few years back. We were on strike for 2 1/2 weeks. Not fun.

I`ll be there... Just got my plane tickets to fly in at 7am and fly out at 10pm on the same day....

Hopefully I`ll have the coverage up some time sunday mid-noon unless i take my new trophies :D to show off at the gaming store....

I have a total of 5-6 entries planned out but still working on a few of them. Should be done within the next 2 weeks hopefully.

Anyhow I`ll be hanging arround the GD area all day. Not sure how to tell who`s who at these events tho....

That is always the challenge isn\'t it. How do we tell each the rest of the pack? Anybody have any ideas? Some sort of button, shirt, hat, etc.? Maybe and name tag with our Handle and avatar on it...

Shadzar, you\'re welcome to stay at our place. I know gas is expenseive as hell right now, but that might make it doable if you don\'t have to pay for a hotel. We\'re right off I-85 (@ 285). You could follow us the next morning to GD. Scott knows downtown like the back of his hand so you\'d be sure to not get lost. Just PM us if you want. (You can have the whole basement \"suite\" to yourself - refrigerator, coffeemaker, and full bath included.)

They\'re open until midnight Fri. and Sat.

Well, this is what I look like (minus about six inches after a trim the other day):

One of the friends with me will be a short Phillipino fellow with glasses (Walther); the other will be a taller heavier guy with a goatee, mustache and glasses (Mike).

I think Mike will be bringing a female friend, so they\'ve been talking about not spending the entire day at Games Day and heading out for shopping. Kind of a play-it-by-ear plan at the moment.

Well, I\'ll be there- ill prepared, but there. I\'ll pretty much have what I had last year, so if I can do as well I\'ll be ecstatic.

Looking forward to it, though. It was a good time last year.

I reckon I will wear my \'Spartan World Tour\' t-shirt, along with my COBRA hat...should make me relatively easy to spot. :)

Saturday is the day!!!

Hey all.

As Darth said to me in a PM yesterday, Saturday is THE day. RedDawn and I are definitely going to be there. RD has several pics in the PYP thread. Here\'s a pic of me sice I think that my pic in the PYP thread is long gone:
