James that looks really good, the way you\'ve paired the models is great, I wish I\'d been as talented when I was younger (groan old git syndrome)

Alot of the areas are a bit fuzzy and the boot has a chip at the end i think.
There are a few areas that need some work.
One of the swords on the beastman has a mould line. A big no no for a GD.
And the mini could use some black lining to help spme parts stand out.
Over all tho the mini is very dynamic and tells a good story. You have done a good job there so next time you should nail it. Keep up the good work.

Yes it lis very dynamic! The most important part of a duel!
I agree with what some has said. There are some parts that I think could be improved without so much more work. You have something going here.. looks good for the future!
You do seem to have a bit of a problem with paint chipping judging from wips and earlier pictures. Are you careful not touching the miniature while you paint? is there a problem with the primer?

James; I can see a few things that you might consider ready for next years competition.
It appears that the face paint has migrated onto the hair at the temples or is it some kind of mask? If a mask it needs to have a greater definition/contrast.
I\'d suggest that the skin needs to have a greater range of tones making the definition of the skin/muscles stronger. Washes and glazes will work wonders on achieving this.
I see that you\'ve done some drybrushing on the Beastman\'s fur. From what I can see (or it could be the photograph) it appears that you\'ve only done one layer of highlight. In order to catch a judge/initial selectors eye you need to make sure that the tonal range is a bit more \"staged\" and has greater levels of highlight.
As a tip try doing the drybrushing first and then pick out the detail/overlying bits & bobs after that is done.
As has been pointed out try to get rid of all moulding lines and avoid as much as possible touching the mini while painting it. that way you have less chance of catching the edges and rubbing off the paint. Pins into Corks (see your mum & dad for some wine bottle corks) work great and help a lot while painting allowing you a greataer area to hold without touching the mini itself.
