A few months ago, you may have heard that the US and Canadian Games Workshop businesses merged, forming one North American entity. Accordingly, we’ve been working behind the scenes with our promotional and event efforts and we’ve just wrapped up the schedule for the 2009 North American Games Days (click the link for more detailed information).
The 2009 schedule is as follows:
Baltimore Games Day - May 9, 2009
Toronto Games Day - June 20, 2009
Chicago Games Day - July 25, 2009
Going forward, our focus with Games Day will be to provide a grand celebration of the Games Workshop Hobby and the Hobby Community. To accomplish this, we’ve made some changes for the better. Whether you’re into collecting, painting, modeling or gaming, Games Day will offer unique Hobby experiences unavailable anywhere else! There will be more to do. We’ll be opening up the venues to expanded Club and Community driven activity and events (registration begins soon!). Games Day will be more interactive for participants, staff and Studio Guests alike. If you’ve never been to Games Day, GO! If you’ve been to Games Day before, you’re not going to want to miss this year.
We have also decided that we will not be hosting a Los Angeles Games Day this year. This was a very difficult decision for us and we want to be very clear and open about our reasons. Simply stated, based on current plans, the Los Angeles metro is about to go through a growth spurt in new Hobby Centers and, in hand with that, so will its Hobby Community base. This is something to celebrate! In support of this effort, we are going to prioritize and invest our resources into Community Events, Club efforts and Hobby Centers, and return with Games Day next year, in a very big way.
In the meantime, if you are near LA, be sure to check out the Broadside Bash, SoCal Slaughter, and Quake City Rumble!
