i know you\'re not allowed to mix and match bitf from LOTR and anything else, but if i use necromunda bits in an Orkie mob can it still be entered into the WH 40K section, or does it go into open category?

Thanks for your time and knowledge,

All entries must be Citadel miniatures, Forge World models, or scratch built models. Conversions are welcome! Warhammer 40,000 categories include entries for Necromunda, Epic Armageddon, and Battlefleet Gothic. Warhammer categories include Mordheim, Warhammer Quest, Warmaster, and Blood Bowl. Inquisitor models should be entered in the Warhammer 40,000 Large Model category or the Open.
hope this helps.

Yeah and you can mix and match parts, so its perfectly fine to use beastman bits on a 40K entry, for example.

So what you suggest is OK.

So I had an Idea that came to mind while reading the replies here, that I thought would be cool. It would be having a Chaos Marine and a Space Marine wargaming with some of the Epic 40k stuff. I think that would be pretty cool and very fitting for the GD\'s. I think though one would have to use inquisitor scale for the marines. Thoughts?:D

What do I think? I think I wish I\'d thought of it!! It would have to go in the Open category, of course, but sounds like a brilliant suggestion -- go for it!

Drake Farstrider: I hate to tell you but it\'s been done before. :(
The original Magnus Carnear & a Genestealer Primarch playing 40k with Epic scale pieces. Can\'t remember who did it, but it ended up being on display in a GW store.
There have been a number of variations on the theme as well in the UK, Wizard & Deamon, Dragon & High Elf.

Yeah it always seems all the good ideas have already been done.

I get it at work too, everytime I think i\'ve found out something new and amazing it turns out someone did it decades ago!

so what if someone\'s done it before? it still sounds like a good idea. maybe use chaos daemons to look as if they are the gods playing with the souls of the mortals (like the old jason and the argonauts films)

You CANNOT mix LOTR stuff with any of the other GW games systems miniatures. All the LOTR range is produced under license, so it\'s not GW\'s creative property. You can convert LOTR stuff with other LOTR stuff, and you can use ANY GW miniature bits for conversions with ANY other GW bits. BUT you can\'t cross-over.

Lord of the Rings miniatures are not Games Workshop\'s \'intellectual property\' so you cant use a gandalf head on a Space marine (scale issues aside).

Hope that saves you from trying to admit something, that they will throw back in your face :D

I read the french rules.. and there it said that you can\'t convert LOTR minis at all..or?

\"The Lord of the Rings\" Miniatures : Due to licensing restrictions, the miniatures from our \"Lord of the Rings\" range can only be entered in the 7th and the Young Blood categories. They must also be \"conversion free\": they cannot be mixed with miniatures or components from our other ranges. They must be mounted on their original base, in the case of models which don\'t have any, like the Trebuchet of Gondor, they must be entered without one.

Thats a good point actually, the rules for each country are subtly different, so best bet is to contact your local GW and find out what they say.

UK GD- You can convert LOTR with LOTR mini\'s. That could change next year???

Just no \'cross over\'. It could be down to \'local\' licensing laws? Bloody lawyers!

Here\'s a question:

If the display bases are supposedly not considered when judging the entries, can the display base include small non-GW bits (for example, a Reaper sword or shield laying on the ground)?

thanks... you guys got the nail on the head about answering my question. So, one last question... what are the \"brochli\" bases called? Not slotta, but the other ones. i thought it\'d be cool to convert necromunda orks into tank bustas with woven basket backpacks full of TNT with those style bases. everyone builds up their bases, i want to build them down;) wouldn\'t make april 9th, but it\'s a long way to 2006:D

hmmm, after closely reading the rules, I better hope they accept mine as a duel despite being a touch...conceptual...

Thank you for posting where they are, it\'s good to be able to study the playing field so to speak.

:)
