they did the same in germany, personally i dont see it as a huge problem. the entries they think is good enough simply get a pin asap =) and there was a separate entrance for GD contenders so most of the minis were in place pretty much at the same time, dont know if thats the case in uk though.

not the case in uk. for the monster category at least, all finalists had more or less been picked when i entered my giant, and i saw noono looking at it from the staff. a lot of things came in late. biggest issue is that retail people have the call on what makes finals, finals judging was rather good and i respect the judgement of the design team.

I had a contempor dreadnought in the 40k vehicles so I was watching the judging.... Mine was the last to get but aside when they picked the winners so I just missed out on that demon.... But I did see the design time look at one model and they said something to each other then removed it from the finalist case.

A good day for me. I got gold in 40k vehicle and finalist in duel and open. my first golden demon award so im very happy. ive been painting since april for GD guess my luck was in this year. and some bloody hard work.

def should be a team category.

It's not luck mate when you get gold it's bloody hard work, well done :)

when i handed in the whfb regiment i remember there were already 3-4 pins there, but i think the staff was very good in their judging (but who am i to complain lol)

congratz to all people for pins n' demons :)

Must admit that I was a little concerned when some of the staff didn't even seem to have a rudimentary knowledge of what miniature is what. I was looking at the cabinets around 1.20ish when people were starting to collect entries. When somebody says "its the XXX miniature" and it's the only one on that shelf you expect the person handing back entries to be able to pick it out without pointing at every one...

Thanks dude. My highest hopes this year were to make the finals, it was total shok when i found out id got the gold.
my terminator chaplain was finalist in open, last year it didnt make it past the first cut in 40k single. i did repaint some parts and added some free hand so guess that made a Difference.

I entered for the first time ever and got finallist in 40k vehicle. Vostroyan hell hammer :)

I heard no mention of the joint entry subject from banshee himself on the ride to the bus station, we had a lengthy chat bout his entry. he did get a finalist pin. Tho i should let him tell you all about it himself

Congrats to black dagger and Tommie, that is a wonderful result indeed!

Well, I think I will be playing it safe in 2012 gamesday. Get in line immediately to drop off my entry and be there for the doors opening. My main intention will be to enter the Golden Demons, meet up with people and have a few beers, and check out the forgeworld stuff and other GD entries. Might buy one or two models from FW.....

Ijust knew that you would have placed, I guess it was all a lot tougher than I realize from the photos.

Ahh, yes Stefan - you could be my Sword Bearer but I think it much more likely that I will end up being your Sword Bearer. Although I don't like the idea of being arrested in Birmingham for waving my sword around either, although its definately a great deterrant for any would be muggers. "Tried to rob me ee did officer! So I cut his f**king head off!!!" lol.

My entry looks beautiful in my head - definately a contender, it's making it a reality thats the problem - do I have the skill to pull it off...that is the question lol!
