Great dread but i'll stick in a few observations. First off, the arms dont work with the body. While the frag launcher is a better fit, the ccw looks way off. Its hanging too far out and to my mind (and that of my flat mate's who also looked) it detracts from the appearence. The NMM looks good but it seems from the picture that there is a lot of brown and not much contrast from dark to light. It needs some bright specular highlights to make it pop.

The problem with the arm is the picture. For some reason it sticks out on the pic and I dont know why because on the mini the fit is spot on. Its been bothering me too. With the NMM I kept it purposly dulled after researching how gold reacts to the weather...after a while it does become duller and I wanted it to look like this guy had been out stalking an icy tundra for a while. That being said your right that to pass as NMM the highlight would need to be brighter.

I think its the visual balance of the model being off with the ccw arm. From that angle it does poke out miles more. How close does the internal edge of the arm butt up to the side of the body? For those marine dreads, i think they look best when they're tight together and bulky looking. The arm makes him look a little gangly.

Have you a closer image of the model? I'd love to see how you did the weathering on the armour.

I'd have to agree the arm does seem a bit gangly, Almost like the armour is stripped off the Elbow section. I have to say the way you have done that banner looks great, like its got snow soaked/windblown over it. Very nice job.

Pictish Mini Painting

I'm actually a man!
The only issue i could see is what has been mentioned already, the NMM gold just needs a few more shades to it, as it looks more brown than dull gold, (though i know thats how dull gold looks haha), but in a painting competition of genetic superman in SPAAAACCCEEE, realism can sometimes be a negative to painting.

However it is a lovely model, and it could also have been the luck of the day. and someone had something which caught the judges eye a bit more.

Lovely stuff though :)

Looks fantastical! I like the use of Grey Knight bits and the banner looks like it came from a kit. I'll need to copy some of the design when I start working on my wolves again.
