Automaton/Sebastian Archer\'s brilliant Skaven for WHFB Single (Placed first I\'m betting?) Is he the first person to place gold in both WHFB and 40k Single at a single GD?

On the skavens base, what is the black bit on the side of the base. I have seen lots of bases with these smooth sides. How do you achieve this?

hello everyone, wow am so so excited about the on sunday!! I am absolutely blown away by it all...it is such an honour for me, I really can\'t believe it. It still feels like a dream!!! Many congratulations to everyone for the great miniatures, winners or not. And thank you all the people who were so kind to me over the weekend, it was great to meet you and I hope I can see you all again soon!!

About the photos of my minis, I;m afraid I don\'t have any pics yet and won\'t have any for a while, because I didn\'t have time to take any photos before |I left home, and I am not returning to australia until the end of October. So it will be about a month I am afraid - a bit annoying, but oh well.

I am going to the ravage mix open in Paris in mid October, and the Italy GD the following week, so I look forward to meeting many of you there! :D

About the bigger side and back black part on base on the skaven mini, well it was quite simple: I just built up the structure to the height I wanted, then used pieces of plasticard (actually this time I just used pieces of clear plastic cut from a blister pack) to make the smooth surface. I have done it other ways before with putty, but this was MUCH easier and faster.

@ automaton: your skaven was one of the stand out (and one of my personal favorite) mini\'s at GD, looked at the base very carefully and somehow knew it was yours. loved the way you painted the greens on him naming the decaying head on the rope and the perfectly painted weird stone as 2 of (i like to think) best parts on your beautifull entry, a part from that loved the way you painted the rest with nice faded colors... very stylish...your talent is astonishing...sorry for my spelling speaking and just doing stuff in dutch is screwing my english :}

@Demonherald
Yes would of been god to chat to more peeps, thats the problem with GD, not enough socialising.

@Matty
The ribbing is just painted on. My sculpting skills are poor. I will send you some big photos this weekend hopefully mate. :)

The attempt at an overhead light source doesn\'t show particulary well in these pics but in reality its quite strong. Dull cote has killed the metallics aswell.

Cheers :)

I knew you had resculpted the tail (or obviously just sections of it), but just wasn\'t sure \'bout the ribbing.

This is fantastic Nigel! Yep, its definatley grass and not slime on the base too, my bad!

Like the whole interaction of the models, and the detail painted onto the \'fex (muscle sinew, ribbed tail etc) is very cool.

The diorama was a great category this year, did anyone get photo\'s of the dissection room with the genestealers in suspension tanks that looked like it was lit with UV lights?
