Hi Guys well here\'s my other trophy grabber Fulgrim Daemon Prince....or to give it it\'s proper title the Daemon Prince formerly known as Fulgrim.....
Former Fulgrim

Basically the idea started out as Fulgrim then changed to generic Slaanesh DP as I wanted to change some of the details to be more Generic Slaanesh DP but everyone on the day was calling it Fulgrim so call him what ya like he\'s my version of a Slaanesh Daemon Prince.. (well technically Wayne Englands artwork inspired vision)..
I\'ve always fancied doing a serpent bodied mini as a DP.. I just was fed up of seeing Slaanesh DP\'s being done as Purple versions of the generic DP kit and wanted to do something different that fit..
A real departure from my usual style in a lot of ways both with the pallette used the lack of Weathering and using actual metallics haven\'t done that in a while but finding myself enjoying it again)..

Thanks again to Orkydave for being there at day one when I sent him pics of a random pile of bits.(he really must have wondered what was going on)..And also to Silphid who\'s answer to a totally unrelated painting question earlier in the Year got me rethinking my whole approach to many projects...in short ifyou don\'t think you can do something don\'t avoid it figure it out.....I\'ve included some WIP pics here so any questions or thoughts guys please fire away....

Another excellent pice there. I think, if there\'s a weakness in it, it\'s the wings. They could maybe do with a little colour and shading where one layer of feathers overlaps another. Maybe there is more there but isn\'t showing up on the photos, at least on my screen. It\'s really a minor quibble, just trying to think of something you could improve on.

I remember looking at this. I thought it was outstanding, It seemed to have many admirers.
Really fits together well, and the painting is much better than the photos show.
The wings do look plain but didn\'t in real life..... strange.

excellent

Loved seeing this upclose at the end, fantastic piece.

I honestly never knew you were as good as you were.
You really have gone up in my book as an inspiration.

Cheers Matty If I\'d had a quid everytime someone said that sunday I would be rich..The better than I thought line not the inspiration bit....
Thing Is I can paint a bit I can\'t photograph worth shit....I make decent enough pics but really no real resemblance to a lot of my work..
cheers again .

I didn\'t mean to sound condescending or anything (sorry if it came across like that)...

...Just I always saw you as a commission painter who rolled out high standard pieces but then you came along with your entry\'s which just topped everything you have done beforehand (or what I have seen.)
Just shockingly good IMO.

I also have to go with Matty on this one in a hopefully uncondescending way, you are much better than I thought too.

This somehow manages to be pink and purple, pretty, and yet still very dark and nasty looking at the same time, which is no mean feat in my book. I really like the creative use of GW parts in a lot of the construction too. Good backpack and wings as well!

Painting is top notch, nothing really to quibble about. On another day you could have got a gold with this I think, you just happened to be up against the slayer sword winner this time around. D\'oh!

John Blanche seemed to like it a lot too. That would be a major bonus for me, but I guess that depends on how you feel about the skills the man has. Me, I think he\'s quality.

didn\'t take it that way at all chief..really a compliment....True I do a lot of commission work..Most of my painting is that but I still do a lot of othr stuff in between ..those pieces just take a bit longer and don\'t get posted as often...

and Iono ..I wouldn\'t care if everybody in the world thought it wasn\'t that good John Blanche held it fo a while looked closely and simply said that\'s fucking awesome..truly truly awesome....that gave me possibly the biggest buzz ever..As far as I\'m concerned he is a true legend.....

Love this, and again, was a real privilige to watch it take shape from day 1, bet you are glad you caught that earlier flight home to get him finished now!

My favourite part still has to be that gemstone. Easily the best painted gemstone I have seen.

Are you holding onto this one for your personal collection, or was he for a client?

This one definately stood out for me in the cabinets and I spent quite some time looking at it. While the picture give credit to the paintjob it doesn\'t to the atmosphere. On spot your eyes were just drawned to it and it looks.. kind of smaller in the picture. It was really aweinspiring. You were a bit unlucky this year as 40k monster was stronger then ever, but comepting against the best made you really earn your demon. Watching you progress has been a great experience and this is my favourite work from you yet. I think next year with another year of painting and maybe some more work on the scrathbuilding you might be a serious competer for the slayer. Why? Because I think you have really tapped into the 40k universe and if you get these great ideas, as Vincent would say.. just go for it and challenge yourself! Start working right away!

Great work!!!

Thanks Avelorn that means a lot..your comments and constructive critique have helped a lot since joining this site .... I think my biggest limiting factor at the moment is the time I get to spend on entries..I paint commission Full Time from home which means I get plenty of practise with Brush and paint but rarely a chance to really take my time and do something special as time is money......
I also jugglethis with looking after my terrible 2\'s toddler which is no mean feat....he starts nursery school soon which should free me up more time to get fine tuning creatively nd next years ideas are already forming into parts lists and construction steps..
Thanks again much appreciated,.

You rock Rob! :D It was great to see you there, and to see your entries. This is really superb... not as amazing as the dread, but still - this is really top-notch work. Congrats on a well-deserved trophy

I may have to modify the back pack idea for my emporers children...

besides the back pack (which is awesome!) i think you have captured the image of a slaaneshi DP perfectly. I was after all, a fan of the old WFB slaanesh champion with a serpents body and 4 arms.

grats on the demons. you set out to bring demons to yorkshire, and you achieved your goal with style
