Geek!

I\'m in the people don\'t seem to find it geeky group.

Pretty much everyone I know and socialize with knows I paint minis, my family room is filled with them, and no one has an issue with it. Most of them either still paint or did paint.

The other group that tends to know/find out I paint are co-workers, who usually catch me here on cmon at work (as I am right now). I haven\'t once heard anything derogitory, everyone just wants to see what I have up on CMON and then beg me to bring some minis in to work to show them. Heck I know at least 6 people who have since gotten into the hobby due to finding out about it by \'walking in on me\' on CMON.

I don\'t see it as we geeky hobby at all.

You want to talk about gaming geeks, we could always talk about LARPing. lol

And This, well, I have no fracking idea what this is.

lol love the benny hill bit.

i would day it\'s a fairly geeky hobby. but I DON\'T CARE! i have some to terms with geekiness a long time ago. people don\'t always \'get\' what i like about this but as long as they respect that i do \'get\' it, i don\'t care. i have 2 housemates, one thinks i\'m crazy (although she loves star trek, stargate, dr who and comic book films) and the other enjoys the artistic element of it (she\'s a photographer) and often helps me with colours etc. they take the mick as often as poss but it\'s all in good humour

haha, i liked that bit. because thats me. you have good friends ;)

but anyway. at first i didn\'t want alot of people to know that i paint minis mostly because of my age group.

now, i wear it like a badge. Everyone i know knows i paint, play and geek it up pretty consistantly. I, honestly, use it to my advantage. I am, after all, one of the few girl geeks around these parts, along with my mama. and i\'m a single girl geek. Going to the game store is always a unique experiance for me. i often leave and feel like i should shower with the \"OMG! boobs!\" looks i get.

but i will say, i have used it once to get cheap magic:the gathering cards. but its never intentional, really.

I just think that being a geek is such a large part of who i am that i\'m not going to hide it. My friends like me because i\'m a geek not because they don\'t know.

I think thats a bit different, my mate does Roman re-enactments, and him and his dad make all the stuff in the ways they used to 2000 years ago. I think its pretty cool.

becka, it\'s not just the gamers and roleplayers that will spend more time looking at your chest, it\'s men in general.

and plenty of people think i\'m a geek, they get quite confused when they all of a sudden hear me play guitar.
quite strange realy as musicians spend as much time (if not more) practicing like mini painters in the confines of a small room.

yes that\'s right folks, most of the worlds idols are geeks lol

Where do we stand on battle reenactors / living history?

Personally I think there\'s a big difference between someone re-creating part of History and someone running arround with rubber ears pretending they are an elf and tossing bean bags at people while shouting \"True Magic\".

In between these two are groups like SCA, while Historic, you don\'t really get true re-inactment and most people definately lean more towards Fantasy then History.
