Gen Con Minions Needed!

It\'s that time of year to schedule volunteers to help out with the Paint & Take and other Hobby Events that I organize for Gen Con—Miniatures Painting Competition, Speed Painting, Seminars, Classes for painting, terrain, sculpting and much more.

The events are all scheduled, I just need some minions willing to help out for a few hours or more!

If you\'re interested in joining up with my Crew and having some fun volunteering, there are great compensations for your time and efforts!

My Crew, although Gen Con Volunteers (all of us!), are scheduled and handled separately from the regular Gen Con Volunteers, so if you aren\'t interested in the Hobby Events, please contact Gen Con and volunteer your time to help make other aspects of the con run smoothly! There are great perks and great friendships to be found!

Please contact me at paintminion@yahoo.com for more information about being a Crew Minion or go to GenCon.com and find out more about Volunteering at Gen Con Indy.

Either one, with Indy being the closest and most needing of volunteers right now.

We\'re in the beginning planning stages of So Cal, so I\'m not sure what our volunteer needs will be, but the more who can help out, the merrier we\'ll all be! I have a group already set up for So Cal Paint & Take Volunteers, just give me your info off list and I\'ll add you and your friends to the group!

I\'ve never been to a Gencon Paint n Take.. but I\'ll be going to the Indy Gencon this year. I\'ll be bringing my husband, who hasnt been to a con before.
Whats required for a volunteer? And how much time will you need?

Hi solaria!

Go to the Gen Con website for info on being a Gen Con volunteer. For me and my Crew that handle all the hobby events, my rules are slightly different as I need to schedule people now, and I\'m always looking for minions of all sorts including skilled help, ie, know how to do the basics like drybrushing and washes.

For just a few hours volunteering, you could get some paints and minis to take home. For more hours you\'ll get a free badge, and for more hours you might get hotel room.

We have all sorts of opportunities, and we\'re a fun bunch of people to hang around with. I have a Yahoo Group set up for the Crew to schedule and get to know each other before the con. It\'s where all the organizing goes on through the year. If you\'re interested, let me know and I\'ll add you to the crew and you can look at the schedule and put down some hours.

And tell your hubby he\'ll have a blast at Gen Con no matter what he likes to do!

If you don\'t volunteer through us, consider giving the con a few hours! And come to the Paint & Take!

I\'ve already paid for the tickets and hotel, so whatever I do now would be purely for fun.

I\'ll ask hubby if he would mind me volunteering for a few hours, though we do have some appointments with True dungeons to work around. ;)

Well, as a Gen Con Volunteer you also get a t-shirt and some other fun stuff. Your hubby can help too if he wants! As long as it doesn\'t interfere with TD.

Well I just checked out the Gencon volunteer info, I dont think my hubby wants to lose me for 16 hours over the 4 days. (This seems to be the minimum on the site).
If there is any way of signing up for less, (Say a 4 hour stint) I could do that.
:flip:

This is what I was talking about. What that all means is, although I can\'t give you a badge for only four hours, I CAN give you something for 4 hours!

GenCon05 Class question

Sue, would you know if \"pinning\" will be covered in the basic conversion class? I have a few minis I bought at GenCon last year that are in pieces. Not knowing for sure how to pin coupled with not being able to find green stuff locally. I have not been able to put these together and prep them for paint. If this is covered I will make it a point to bring the tools I bought and see if I purchased the right stuff for this.

Thanks for any help

Thanks Sue,

As much time as I will be spending in the Sagamore Ballroom area I wish I could help out. But I will be busy while I am in that area. I got the two classes with Jen and the Basic Conversion class. The only class I missed was the Blending and Layering class that is only offered Friday. And I get to take the begginers class with my 13yr old son on Sat. I am really looking forward to GenCon this year!

And a big thanks and hope to see you there needs to go out to Mel. She was super helpful last year and got me hooked.
