Hi there,
the decision taking a 3 week break (you can also call it holidays
) from comission painting at the moment this has come to the same time with the upcoming historical event near my hometown \"the Duke of Bavaria\" in Ingolstadt. I have so decided to paint some miniatures to enter my first real life competition.
Why a german soldier from the WW2 you might ask? I know i am german, but please don\'t take me as nazi or something stupid that way. Let me explain: We have a funny thing going on over there at Maxpaint.de which is called \"Battle of the Brushes\", where different painters may challenge eachother in painting the same miniature or a something including the same theme. I got into a BoB (Battle of the Brushes) with \"DerToni\" over there and i have decided to let him choose whatever theme, miniature or whatever he likes for our battle - i would be happy with it. He took his time thinking and decided the theme \"WW 2\" and the scale of 54 mm. Miniatures choosing would be free to both of us. So i was browsing the manufactures and found this guy from Romeo Models where i really liked the pose and did imagine the scene in front of my eyes. That\'s the story behind this guy...
A big thanks goes out to Bernd and NogegoN from Maxpaint.de for their help in all our historical questions which they still answer now for a very long time and they really got the background view on some things. Thank you very much guys. Also thankful thoughts go out to all the people over at Maxpaint.de for their motivation with that guy... Thank you very much
The whole miniature has been painted in acrylics. The main colour i have done this scene around was Highlight Germ. I (Feldgrau) 338 form vallejos Panzer Aces and Gnarlok Green from Games Workshop\'s Foundation colours. The wall was included in the kit, but it has been very thin so i stuffed it from the back to get it better involved in the base. Those wood parts where also added by me and as i have been sitting with a friend and a beer i saw this very old table which has been weathered about 3 years now by standing on our roof. As we were talking about women and things i started to get a closer look at the table. The white seal broke from the wood and i took some parts with me. I\'ve decided to give it a try on the woods of this scene. So i broke them in tiny pieces and glued them on the wood parts here by using a toothpick... then i made it dirty again... about 3 hours this idea took til it looked that way...
I hope you may like him and the whole scene. Pictures are a bit to yellowish/red in the end, but i have some upcoming painting plany for that competition and it is not allowed to lose time while taking a break... so i stopped playing around with the pictures and tried my best to get him closest to reality on the photos...
