I liked the quality of this when I first saw it.
My only observation is that he\'s very clean.

wasn\'t this at the world expo?

a very nice piece. the only gripe i have is the tear on his leg. the fabric seems to be lighter than the skin that is exposed

I remember seeing this at the expo. It\'s a nice looking piece and great work for being your first venture into historicals. I agree with Dragonsreach on the cleanliness. Also, the skin coul use a bit more variations in colour being of this size. Perhaps some hair as well? Anyway, a very good first step.

I saw this the other day, the painting is very good overall (9+) although I don\'t like the model itself that much. I don\'t have an issue with him being very clean

One aspect of realism is historical accuracy. Sorry to say, that shield design - beautifully done though it is - is more a fantasy element than anything and really brings the figure down IMO if it\'s intended to a historical subject.
But then the sculpt itself isn\'t great in that respect so... :D

So he was out on the \"Pull\" then?
That explain a lot. lol

I see what you are saying Einion about the \"fantasy\" theme on the shield, it does looks a little more Scoti-Erin Gaelic/Celtic theme than I tend to think of as what a Germanic warrior would have. But it\'s not something I have done any reaearch on.
