Haha.

This thread has given me a laugh.
I really cannot see what all the fuss is about.
It just seems a good way to pay for all the work you have to put into a competition.

Why this has degenerated into a bitch about Mr Holly\'s abilities is just stupid, and to me sounds like jealousy and sour grapes from a few members. He has won a lot, surely he can capatalise on that!
When he enters these comps other competitors must look and wonder what he has come up with, he is one of the ones to beat.

Why this has become a discussion about him changing his style, stop being arrogant blah blah blah I just dont understand.

All he is offering is a potential winning mini for a reasonable price.
For those who like his stuff then take him up on the offer.
For those who don\'t like his style just get over yourselves, if you could get $500 for a mini you would.

i would be wary of the wording in the body of the text as it can be read that he will only send the model if it places and does not make clear what sword or trophy he would send, these could be pieces of trash with himself keeping the real ones.

When it comes to ebay always read the text as though you are the vendor and are trying to swindle someone.

In this case you are potentially bidding to receive nothing.

EDIT:

Well this can degenerate further from that comment as well, Nigel... Why? Because then people will have to motivate their well or not so wellfounded opinions and that means dragging up stuff from the past. I don\'t mean this as an attack on your comment but only to explain why I will leave this as it is now and just say that I for myself had no intention of questioning Mr Hollys ability if anyone read that into what I wrote, don\'t! There are several branches of the painting tree and I love them all.

@nnfan: Well the good thing about this community is that it\'s so small so if anyone swindles somebody else they get to hear it. So I wouldn\'t worry about that.

tim,

i am a fan of your work. i have always enjoyed it. in fact it has a very old school style with a newer twist to it. a very unique stylized way of doing things, so that when someone sees a mini in a showcase they know it is yours.

that aside, i have to side with Dragonsreach on this.... i have seen many of your posts and auctions over the past few years, and many times you do come off as someone who is a bit conceited. i however dont think you try to do this and i dont know of many people who actually try to come across in that way, however you might want to consider how you word things online, because many a time things can be TOTALLY misconstrued. this is the problem with forums and email. i still remember the time my wife and i got into a fight over an email that was totally misunderstood. i would just reccomend looking at some of posts and other auctions from another users standpoint and you might be able to see how you come across sometimes.

i debated even putting up this post, but if it is something that i think can truly help you as time goes on, i felt it was worth it.

cheers

With respect, I\'d be cocky too if I\'d won nearly a dozen Demons, and a Sword.

Seriously though...Tim is a great painter with a unique style, and a personal flare. He has the trophies to back up the \"attitude\".

Starks is in my opinion a better painter, and a mentor to me...although he has not won any Demons. To that end, and in my opinion, he has little to no lust for trophies...just for the sake of winning trophies.

You\'re both great artists in your own right.

well, the commission sold...so the guy with $500 in his pocket is laughin\' now...
i\'m not sure how i feel about the negative reaction to the idea of auctionin\' off the right to call the shots on a potential demon winner...who doesn\'t wanna get top dollar for their hard work...

i do think that the pic of kanye was hilarious...

personally, i\'m not a fan of your paintin\' style at all, but a boatload of demons is still a boatload of demons...the judges like it, and that\'s all that counts on the day...some people don\'t like my style...can\'t please all the people all the time...

i look forward to steppin\' into the ring with ya in l.a. this year...it\'s gonna be a tough competition...

cheers
