Hi I\'ve been into warhammer 40k for a while and I\'m just now thinking about starting to play it. I\'ve also decided I\'m going with space marines hehe (newbe way out) any way I was wondering what color scheme to go with and if anyone out there has a codex of space marines they don\'t need \'cause I need one bad.... Oh and what exactly would I need to buy to get started? come on you masters teach me!!!

Essentially all you would need is the WH40K rulebook and a Marine codex, minis and paints.

I\'d wait a little bit before buying any books though, since the new edition is right around the corner.

...thats a definate! The new Rule book is only about a month or so away
as for Space Marine Codex you could try eBay, although if you\'ve definately made up your mind personally I\'d buy a new one (shop around there are some bargains to be had)
to start off with will need a Tactical Squad:
3 choices:
1. 10 man squad
2. 5 man combat squad
3. 5 man scout squad (more detail to paint here)

Battle for Macragge will be out in a few months (I think). It will have marines and a crashed drop-ship, I think it also come with a basic version of the rules.

In the meantime just get some marines and start painting, it will probably take you a while to get a small force together anyway.

That\'s the thick end of £70.00, but there will be an Army boxed set, deal out at the same time as the rule book. Might be better value as there are all tanks in there to consider.

I am not trying to put you off, but why not search eBay or, even better, catch someone down your local GW who has just become disillusioned with the hobby and offer to relieve them of their burden

Well I got all the paints and stuff like that but I just didn\'t know what I should get figure wise everyone was pullin me in 30 differnt directions as far as armies. I heard it all from Tyranids to Eldar\'s. But I didn\'t want the Horde figs because you have to buy about 200 of the damn things and that racks up. and so do figures like Eldars and Necrons.... so I went to one of two choices ....Space Wolves or Space marines. I like both because I love the painting part and they are wicked easy to paint including the Rhino.... but I don\'t know which to get... I mean a few folks play the wolves but there is a few folks that play marines... I\'m in a Jam.. I want somthing that I can paint withh great Detail that isn\'t to hard to paint ya know.... I mean like Chaos they are wicked cool but to make a good detailed paintjob on those guys is crazy. So help me out because I\'m gonna get an army befor this thursday!

On the home page of this site...click on *Browse Gallery* type in space wolves/marines/blood angels or whatever takes your fancy and see what other people have done with them. That might help you decide.

Another fine example of me trying to sell a completely painted (albeit to a mediocre standard) army just fell off EBay...I\'ve been attempting to sell my Dark Angel Marine army for a month or two and can\'t seem to get any bites...even at half the retail value.

I like to buy stuff unpainted. But Ebay has a shit load of deals on marines !!! I bought the rule book today for 9 bucks with shippin now I want to get my squad and the Rhino because I have a nice paint scheme for the rhino. But I dunno what to go with paint wise for the marines themself

Choosing a marine color scheme can be a nightmare, simply because there\'s so many to pick from.

I\'m still new and I\'ve noticed there is like damn near 7 branches of the space marines I\'m all confused now... I went to forge world and went to space marines then all I see is different kinds... man I need the codex

I hate to break it to you, but there\'s actually over 1000 chapters of Space Marines, each with their own color scheme........
