I have decided to stop painting. If you are new to the hobby or if you are just looking to pick something up for cheap there is a link to my ebay auctions. Please ladies and gents, it is a sad time for me, no making fun or calling this a plug...please. http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&include=0&userid=johnsing45&sort=3&rows=25&since=-1&rd=1

Alright alright....I\'ll spill my guts.

Moneys tight, starting college and dont have alot of time anymore for painting. I loved the hobbie, but it sure does eat you time. I\'ve been contemplating selling my minis and getting outta painting for awhile now, but now the decision isn\'t mine anymore. I\'ll miss it, and once start making some more money and have more time I\'ll go back to it like a dog finds his home. But untill then, the minis will just collect dust and probably be put into a box that I\'ll forget about. :(

but not THAT Dr. Bob
All I can say is don\'t lose or throw away your minis!

I would give anything to get back the minis I had painted back in my teenage years ...

:(

Well, I\'m saving the ones I\'ve already painted. The minis up for auction are all unpainted. Theres going to be more up for sale, if and when I find time to take pictures and post em. I really don\'t want to give it up, but since I don\'t have much time for it anymore I\'d rather help out a newbie to get some cheap minis.

Box that stuff

While it may be too late to not sell that stuff, I can speak from experience having gone through an extended period of not painting. Seems that I took up breeding as an extended hobby and now that the offspring are old enough to start gaming themselves, I find myself going back to the boxes o\' stuff for lead.

I\'ve repainted my first mini, an old Heritage dwarf, for the fourth time. The figure still sucks but the paintjob goes a long way. I\'ve painted up a few others as I\'ve had time.

But the most pressing reason to hold onto your stuff is that its a time capsule gift to your future self. While I\'m painting some figs, I\'ve found that my tastes have changed so I\'m e-baying them off. These figures, now long out of production have been sold some 15 years after I bought them and are making other people happy and giving me hobby money at the same time.

As inconceivable as it sounds, college is the time that you\'ll actually have the most disposable income and the time to use it.

Use both of them wisely.

never give up

Man if you ask me you\'re been a tad melodramatic... If you truely enjoy painting miniatures then just have a paint session whenever you have a bit of spare time.

Sure there\'s more important things in the world that need addressing such as famine and nuclear arms, but there\'s nothing like bringing a hunk of metal alive to calm the nerves and bring about a little order.

Do as you please... And I wish you the best of luck with your studies.

Cheers mate.

Storage?

Have you thought about shipping it all off to a relly or trusted freind to look after? I\'m trustworthy for example :) That way you dont have to lug it to college with you and it will be there when you come back to the hobby. It will stop you being tempted to sell it off. Unless you really need the money.
At the moment I am in a similar situation but all my stuff is recent GW so not much sentimental value not much reason to keep it. I am getting out of gaming more than painting. I can keep my paints set up ready to go but not a gaming table and army and opponent. Wouldnt it be great to have an instant opponent any time you wanted a game, someone with all the dice the right rules properly painted army with all models clearly representing .........sorry got a bit carried away there.

I wish you luck in your future endeavours and come back to painting soon :)

Yeah, It really is a money thing. The fact is I\'m done with it for now, maybe in a couple of years I\'ll pick it up again. And it would seem smart to box it all up and save it for later, but once again the money thing.
