Getting Rid Of Glue

Have just got a big bag of Imperial guard from ebay, full of badly painted and/or broken minis. Any advice on the best way to separate the worst of the mis-glueing and glue residue. Is it just a case of hacksaws and files or is there a smart/cleaner way to do it?

Well, if they used super glue, then a small amount of acetone will help debond it. Be careful not to let the acetone sit too long, or apply too much to the joints. If they used plastic glue, you might be out of luck as the glue melts and bonds the plastic together. A sharp hobby knife blade never hurt either.... :)

Plastic or metal castings?

In either case if they're glued with superglue one thing you can try is popping them into the freezer. Superglue gets brittle at very low temps and it makes it easy to snap joints apart and might help to flake off the superglue from the surfaces.

You might even try WD40 to remove the superglue, if it is. Had a incident with it dissolving the glue between the wheel axle and bearing on a CO2 car once.

Cheers for the advice of getting superglue off. Will come in handy for a different mini. However, these offending ones are all plastic. So it's going to be sharp knives, gentle files and an improvement in my puttying skills I think.
