getting the fig matt (Hobby tip)

okay after the 3d coat of matt varnish I realised that this thing won\'t become matt despite what it says on the label.
So what I used was a gelbased acrylic matt glaze medium instead (system-3 colour) and it got perfectly flat in one coat.

anybody else got experience with this?

All the best, Sven

Keep in mind..\"Matt\" does not mean \"Flat\" it just means it\'s not shiny. So depending on the company it can have all sorts of variations.

Ive found Vallejos clear flat to be dead flat. And its a brush on.

I really dont like like Testors Dull Coat as it tends to yellow over time, But Testors Model Master Lusterless flat does not nor does the Floquil figure flat (Which happens to be made by Testors also)

Hi Sven, nope never used it but I\'ve usually found matt mediums for painters to be unreliable and highly variable in what exactly they mean by flat! I might have a look at this now that you\'ve mentioned it, if it doesn\'t work out for models I can at least use it up painting.

Mine\'s crap! Dried patchy and generally wouldn\'t flatten down even slight satin areas in an otherwise matt paintjob.

I\'ve heard good things about the Model Master Lusterless flat, must give it a shot some time.
