seriously..... after seeing the last travesty of my youth....transformers 2. i saw gi joe. imagining a dijointed story that would have great special effects, but not much else i was pleasantly surprised.

this movie was a fun popcorn movie. i owuldnt say a night time movie. but definitely a matinee. the story was pretty tight in form...although some lines were as bad as george lucas\' scripts, i still thoroughly enjoyed it.

snake eyes of course was great..... and ripcord was pretty funny. my favoirte part was a cameo of brendan fraser as sgt. slaughter. hilarious.

at least i didnt walk away feeling dirty after the horrible nature of transformers 2

Hmmm..... that\'s good to hear. My brother reccomended I watch Transformers 2 before GI Joe just so my all time nut low expectations were reached. He said after Transformers 2 the Spice Girls movie would seem like Citizen Kane.

I\'ll have to go check it out of course.

Yo Joe!

I may see it when it comes on HBO. When they decided to not let reviewers see it before its opening, I got very worried about it. Also putting that Wayans in it means it loses 2 points from me automatically. GIJoe doesn\'t needs a D&D Snails. D&D didn\'t need a Snails either.

Not everything will translate well with new technologies or into live action. GIJoe I just feel will be a bad war movie, with hints of the series via character names and fancy tech.

Ok fight scenes and special effects, but on the other hand such a shite film, but on the plus side I watched it for free and good job as well.

Did I mention It got bit boring so I did not quite manage to see the ending.

Uber, Brendan Fraser was Flint not Sgt. Slaughter.
Although I do have to agree with you on the rest of your post.

Only one \"Yo Joe!\"
a couple of \"Knowledge is Power.\"
BUT NOT ONE \"COBRA!\" (bad snake-ish lisping or not) is that a good sign or not ??????

Seriously, how could anyone have gone and seen Transformers 2 and expected a good movie?

Didn\'t you see the first one?????

Agree 100%, but there\'s a difference between going and expecting to see something fun and KAPOW-y and another thing to go and wish you\'d spent the time hammering nails into your happy sacks.

I haven\'t seen it, but I will when it hit\'s blu-ray! Ditto to GI JOE. I mean, I watched the phanton menace, then I went back for the attack of the clones, then I went back ANOTHER time for revenge of the sith even though I had more then enough information to form a pattern and draw conclusions on what the third movie was gonna be like. Some movies I just have to be watched. I don\'t make the rules!

ironically they made the same sounds that their lazer guns made in the cartoon.

BUT .....when they shot at someone they didnt always miss. in fact i distinctly remember watching scarlet blow up at least 3 guys heads.

not a way to get ahead in life i say.......

yes....thank you....i will be here all night.

i went to see this for free there was no chance i was going to pay but what everyone is saying is right it\'s better than transformers 1 or 2 (though that doesn\'t say much if you grew up with transformers) we\'re not talking cinematic gold or anything but for a mindless action film that makes as much sense as most other mindless action movie under close scrutiny

but it was fun can\'t say much for sienna miller (not really a fan) but the redhead that was the blonde in the last few seasons of alias has definately been upped a cupsize or two plus she\'s now a redhead which almost makes up for it having a wayans brother talking about realistic hair and kungfu grip (yup its hasbro they saved money by using the same shit joke as they did in transformers 2)

but yeah if you want action and breasts in skin tight outfits watch it if you actually want something mentally stimulating...watch anything else

as for major plot holes its almost up there with stealth and the invention of the surge protector

by shipping weapons and their safeguards together

the film does pretty much show a lot of stereotyped nationalist humour which is well just a lil bit bad considering the film changed GI Joe from being the generic term for a US infantryman during WW2 to the acronym global integrated joint operating entity (team america eat your hearts out)

but the funniest thing was what i just read this little tidbit of info from imdb

Marlon Wayans was cast as Ripcord after his performance in Requiem for a Dream (2000). Wayans is also a fan of \"G.I. Joe\" (1985).

yup marlon wayans acting as a desperate heroin addict made me instantly think GI JOE

really i kid you not its up there in plain sight and just makes me wonder the message hasbro are trying to put across

\"GI JOE\'s as addictive as heroin!\" no?
