Also sounds like vigilantiisme. It\'s probably not a great deterent, either. Still, and perhaps most relevant, perhaps justice will be served more often through the use of this device.

Hell, I don\'t care about the deterrent value, it\'s about vengeance for me. Give the bastard something to remember the rest of his miserable life. But if it leads to more rapists being caught then that is great.

EDIT: Actually, a deterrent would be much preferable. Nobody should have to be in a situation that requires a device like this. But in the absence of said deterrent, make the worthless scum pay dearly.

for the victim.. The the rapist gets nabbed with this thing, isn\'t he going to take his rage out on the victim?

Instead of 1.5 million rapes, will it end up being murders instead?

First I\'ve heard of it...

supervike got it dead right, rape would turn into murder. I simply cannot believe that any woman would use that device. They don\'t expect to get raped, certainly not enough to warrant shoving that thing, uhm... somewhere... Rape happens, it\'s never anticipated.

And considering the cultures here in South Africa, it would never, ever be acceptable. The \'shame\' at being caught with it (or caught by someone caught by it :D ) would be thoroughly demeaning and indignifying. You have to understand the cultures to understand.

Never gonna happen! (Till someone proves me wrong)

Aye! Indeed, the trouble is that the rape has already happened. I\'ve spoken to a rape victim, and she quite clearly said that the penetration didn\'t bother her as much as the absolute helplessness, powerlessness and despair. It\'s said often enough that rape is a hate crime, or a crime of violence, not lust.

Thinking from a rapist\'s point of view, I\'d probably insert something else to get nabbed before poking my chopper in anything that\'s potentially got teeth. And then watch the violence begin as that little victory adds to the power-rush.

Exactly. Rape is a crime of violence primarily, I\'m sure the consequences in many cases won\'t be desirable.

And I apologise for sinking into the gutter with this but unless there\'s also an anal version... :rolleyes:
