Glaze medium problems please help

hi all
im paining some random ultar marine i bought off ebay at the moment, and im trying glaze medium. ive painted the armour with midnight, and then regal blue, and now im highlighting with ultramarine blue with about 4;2 glaze medium to paint.im not really getting results, and it seems to be a lot of work for a crap looking mini. is glaze medium even worth using? particularly on SMs cos they have lots of straight armoyr edges?

personally, i only use glaze medium if i\'m doin\' a wash for my shadows...
sometimes i use it if i have a custom mix on my pallette, to slow down dryin\' time, but more often than not, a few drops of water do the job...

Yup Glaze Medium is really intended for glazes or washes rather than highlights. Assuming its Vallejo Glaze Medium (only stuff I\'ve personally used), its designed to bind the pigment in your paint together when thinned down - basically in a similar way to the GW washes work, very thin but not watery. As Jah said, it extends the drying time significantly, I made the mistake of using about 15 parts medium to 1 paint and it took most of the night to dry!

Also 4:2 paint to liquid is also quite thick for a highlight, I tend to go 1:2 paint to water for highlights (or thinner) and build up lots of layers, if you get the consistency right then it actually dries very quickly, so you aren\'t slowed down too much despite doing 4 or 5 highlights of one colour.

you only need to put a drop in to the mix to give the paint a bit of binder back.

that brush thralls tutorial is basicly a good way of wasting glaze medium.

Totally have to agree with Chris.
When I read the article originally I thought it was an overly expensive way over working paint. Plus I didn\'t think much of the result.
