Hi, these are the first two mini\'s my brother is putting on the site (he\'s only 13, and yes Bill i know you set the standards for people his age, and most ages, but hes only just started!), iv decieded to pimp them because you get alot more constructive criticism (and he really needs it lol) please vote and comment:

Tell him to keep it up. In fact tell him that when he starts it\'s all about keeping inside the lines, like paint by numbers. Tell him it gets easier and not to worry if he gets frustrated - it\'s only a miniature lol.

And tell him good luck! :)

Well painting is all about bum in seat time. One thing to try and get right early on is doing eyes. I know this can be daunting for a beginner but the face is the focus of the mini so its important to have a go. Even two brown slits will look better.

Next is coverage. Use thin paints and do as many coats as it takes. I sometimes have to do 5-8 coats to get good coverage.

Once that is mastered try doing a wash. This a darker version of the base (brown for flesh etc) and wash the area. Instant shading.

OK so I hope that helps. Its good of you to post the pics I think for his age he shows alot of potential he just needs more practice. Good luck.

They are good starts. Now he just needs to practice, practice, practice! It really is the only way to get better. I would also have him read the articles on this site.
