i really dont get how people can give that a 9, what could be done to improve it?nothing, apart from it actually being a giant lixard

Could be painted.

yup... painted... and the photo is a bit grainey.

Also... while I\'m sure a great many people here love it, it doesn\'t do anything for me.

I tried to like it more but I just don\'t think it\'s cool.

Even for an unpainted mini it was the easiest ten I have given out because of the cool factor to me.

Just even as is the sculpt tells me a great story from the warhammer world and to the mini\'s credit when I look at it it\'s impossible for me NOT to visualize the cliffs in the background and the windswept pine trees.

I totally understand if people don\'t throw a 10 down when they see it. For anyone who doesn\'t react like I do when they see it I can\'t imagine even giving an 8 to an unpainted mini.

Of course it\'s hard for me to understand someone not feeling as positively to the model as I do. As the Germans say, c\'est la vie.

That might have been me, although the one 9 that I gave it, I don\'t think, did much to its overall score. But to be honest I don\'t particularly like this guy either, I mean Ok, he\'s real cool and all, but there is something missing. I mean there are a lot (maybe not, but a least a few) better sculpts on CMON. + I know how you think that something can get no less than 10 by anyone, like razza\'s eldar, and then it only has 9.7. (Strange how that seems too low :D )

YOU\'RE French.

It\'s all back to the subjectivity of the rating. I am happy to give that unpainted mini a 10 because of the reasons I stated. However once people start slapping paint on a fig I start to see things, skill level aside, I may not like artistically. Color choices etc. I know this model for me will have a VERY tough time living up to the expectations I have in my head.

Hippocratic? Maybe, but it\'s my vote and I\'ll spend it the way I see\'s it I guess. I totally agree with you about things like Razza\'s elf and such, but I have seen mini\'s especially in about the 8-9 range that I can\'t see why they\'re getting more than 7\'s.
Comprendez? (That\'s Dutch).

First 10 I have ever given for an unpainted figure. Totally captures the essence of a Dark Elf Cold one.

I guess a 9.x is good enough in my book to practically BE a 10.

I think the sculpt is freaking fantastic, but just seems nitpicky to me to worry about it being a 9.8 rather than a 9.9.

It\'s way cool!

Hmmmn....guys it\'s CoolMINIornot not CoolPAINTJOBornot?

And while we, in the majority, vote on what is done with a sculpture in terms of painting it, doesn\'t detract the coolness of this mini and what potential it offers to our imaginations.

Oh and by the way It\'s back to 9.9

I agree with you Mike, but I just think it\'s funny that this puppy will score higher in primer then it likely will when it\'s painted. I find it wierd knowing that I will likely vote a model \"down\" after someone puts it through the process.

It is pure inspiration in mini form though.

I think the most important thing about this mini and the reason everybody has voted it up to the giddy heights of 9.9(ish) is the pure skill and detail that has gone into sculpting (and dont forget casting) this magnificent beast this has to be the most detailed sculpt i have ever seen - it maybe that because my works monitor is a big 30\"highdef job and I really can see every tiny little mark and touch on the lizards skin - the whole thing just looks so alive! Its never going to be to everybodys taste but then 80% of what you see on here will be the same! but were not voting on what we personnally like and we would do to a particular mini ourselves but we are voting for skill, talent, effort and overall effect with that added factor of cool

In my humble opinion this is possibly the greatest sculpt in history - most minis require paint to come alive but this coated in nothing but primer has more life and dynamisim (if thats a word ;)) than anything iv previously seen.

I could go on and on about this mini but i wont it says everything thats needs to be said itself :D

not any more!
Shame!
Some people just don\'t understand quality.

lol Anyhow I think most people would almost be willing show their ar*e in Woolworths window to get a 9.9. lol

I still don\'t get why its got 9.9, i mean if it were 28mm yes but for 54mm... i just don\'t get it. Something of around 9.6 would be more suitable. I know that\'s not a big difference but when it comes to the pros even 0.1 is massive. :D

Junior elf why would you think scale makes any difference to quality.
The only difference 54mm has against 28mm is that the painter has to be far more subtle in the blending/layering and attention to detail.
