Unfortunately my mother-in-law passed away yesterday. My wife and I were called by her Dad who could not wake her. She was in the last stages of cancer. She was a great lady who has had a great impact on my life....no not just because of her daughter but because she is a great lady.

Be good everyone and make sure that you remember those whom you love;)

despite all the jokes that are made about mother in laws, it\'s surprising how strong the relationship can be. I know I\'d be very sorry to lose mine.

My sympathies are with you Mike

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts. They really do make a difference. It was a great service....even though I did end up speaking at it.;) We had the internment today about 3 hours away where Helen grew up. All in all it was a great experience as the remembrance of a wonderful matriarch. She was wonderful.

Here is a poem that she wrote when she was 12 years old in 1943. This was written to her older brother Ross who was a airman flying out of England. He is another story by himself. He was too young to sign up as a pilot so he flew as a tail gunner. He flew 73 missions.

To Some-One Far Away

Hours, days even years have past
Since we have been to-gether,
Seasons come and go each year
With wet and stormy weather.
But sunshine, too has entered in
Our lives where e’er we are
And love has brightened up our hearts
Just to know and love our kin.
And even if we meet not again
On earth’s bright path we trod
We will meet again some time
And walk and talk with God.
For this joyous thought we breathe a prayer
Entreat with heart sincere
That by and by in time to come
We’ll meet with loved ones, dear.
So until the time has come
When we’ll unite to-gether
We’ll think of you, Remember you,
Regardless of the weather.
Cheery, bright and patient be,
In sickness and in health,
Until in time foretold to us
Our virtues turn to wealth.

This is an indication of the lady that she became and the mother she became to me. In-law just does not seem right phrase.

Thanks again for you support.

Mike & your wife....

....My sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy. Sometimes I wonder if those who leave us, ever realize how much they\'ve inspired and impacted other lives. The poem your mother-in-law (mother) wrote was beautiful and amazingly written at such a youthful age.

I am one of thirteen siblings and know the hardships of losing loved ones. You see, the hard road lies with those of us who remain, as freedom and peace is granted to those whom pass before us. Unlike Becca, I am grateful to be the older sibling now.

Say I Love You while time permits.
Sincerely,
Faye

I am the older sibling... and i love every second of being able to help my brother. (hes the coolest)

but this stage in life has blessed me greatly...i havent had to say goodbye to someone i love, thats what i meant... not as much an age thing, as a blessed thing...

I know exactly how you feel as today I buried my own Mom. She too died of cancer after a long and un-fair struggle!

Good luck to you and all your family!

Tim.

My sympathy goes out to you, Tim...

...You\'re included in my prayers and indeed, I am sorry for your loss as well.

Ah, sweet Becca: I meant no offense and although you are the oldest sibling in your household, I have no doubt that our age difference is calculated in extensive miles. lol Youth may be grand, but I wouldn\'t trade places for the world....I too, share your sentiments about feeling greatly blessed!
