I would agree that the child was stupid to enter a piece in the GD. But realistically if he\'d put it in any other competition would anyone have known? While there is prestige in entering something in the GD\'s other events offer prize awards for winners. Which could go quite a ways towards re couping the purchase cost. I\'m not surprised it happens but given that incentive I am surprised they got caught at all.

You know what you should do now?
Go hunting for the boy\'s shipping address through your eBay papers (you _do_ keep them, don\'t you?), then look for the father\'s name - either in the phone book or through a search engine.
Then, give him a call late in the evening, at dinner time - just explain what happened, and let him feel you\'re very pissed off and might take legal actions (do not actually say that if you do not have any intention to pursue your threat, but let it float around in your tone)... or,
if you do not feel like having this conversation, just write a letter to daddy.
The guy will probably apologize (or, he will make _his son_ apologize, which would be better!), and your little rascal will have to kiss his monthly pay goodbye for a while... :flame:

It\'s not GWs fault for doing missing it.They deal with a lot of entries.They called me yesterday. They will be contacting his parents and taking back the award. I still think an adult enabled him to do it whether through action,money,or lack of moral fiber in their parenting. As far as kids painting, there are some that can paint like gods, so age is not a real issue here. As far as his handle on ebay, I think it\'s my responsibility to you guys and gals to warn you. Who knows this guy could try it again like Eric Kelso, even after being caught the first time.

I think Games Workshop should have the moxie to mention when this type of thing happens either in the White Dwarf or on the Website.
Make it prominent, and let it be known that not only is it frowned on, but illegal.
They don\'t have to mention the young mans name (since he is a minor) but if they take the public stance that this is not going to be tolerated, maybe it would dissuade future such ingrates.

I think what GW needs to do is draft judges from the upper ranks of CMON. I can remember specific paintjobs, even if I can\'t remember the artist most of the time. It would be make it a lot easier, because they could just throw the mini into the cut pile and notify the artist..
But now they just take the trophy away, and that that only really sucks for the person who just got edged out of the top three. Because then 2nd would be 1st, 3rd would be 2nd and an Honoable mention would be 3rd..

I have never sold any of my work, but I always sign and date my minis on the underside of the base. An artist should always sign his work.
Frankly, It just disgusts me that someone would even consider doing this, representing someone else\'s work as there own, it is dis-honourable and just plain rude.

Given the increasing popularity and use of the internet. This site being a prime example, I suspect that the chances of actually being able to pull off this kind of stunt now and get away with it, certainly in major events is nil.
Good grief, there was even an example this week where a prominent CMON member was informed that he was infringing a minor rule in a painting competioion by having his minis posted on more than one site.
If you can\'t get away with that.......???
