The time fast approaches for the hobby showcase which is Golden Demon UK...
I am working on a couple of potential entries.. was wondering if you guys woul post your 1 Golden Demon Hint...

I will start with...Don\'t forget the back of the model..Spending ages on perfect blending freehand and weathering on an enry can be spoiled by a plain cloak..(also the judges stand behind the models)..

so let\'s here you guys..

have something that is the focus of the model.

basically work up to something that really makes the mini go wow! don\'t cover the mini in endless filigree and freehand without some sort of direction or order to it.

Dont ever think that \"it will do\"

Push yourself and your skills to their limit and do not make do, if you are not truly satisfied with your mini then do not be suprised if the judges arent either.

Well i have never entered a GD before but i have been told ppl have lost because they \"missed a bit\" which isnt suprizing, ive done it too so i cant knock it, sometimes when your daydreaming and your thinking about all the chicks your gonna pick up with that trophy you just lose sight for a minute and you LOSE!lol

talonicus I know that feeling..end of a model couple of pouches to paint..just use the brown you have open and a crazy green to highlight because it\'s the easy option...
Any more of you out there get your tips in..

Never give up. If you don\'t place or make the first cut, don\'t worry. There\'s always next year. GD isn\'t going anywhere (hopefully).

Chris; these are GW staffers.
Be real, how many of them even know a girl let alone could be married to one.

Socializing,the GOLDEN rule !!!

The GOLDEN rule , meet up with the CMON crowd in the hotel bar/lounge across the road .Last year I met the people who inspired me to join this sight , we talked , laughed ,shared visions and encouraged each other in our art form.Make the social side the priority and you will come away happy, make winning the priority and you will come away dispirited. :|~ .We have the capability of making Birmingham a great social event if we come together and enjoy each others company face to face and share and encourage one another, As I have said before with boring regularity as long as there is 1 Gold ,1 Silver,1 Bronze per catergory and no seperation of standard modellers and masters, it will be the same faces winning as previous years ! Sorry about that but thats how it pans out generally .( Check the winners the last 3-4 years if you dont believe me).Any way I look forward to seeing loads of you at the show and having an even better time this year !!! lol GOD bless ,,,,,....VINCENTI

Yes meeting up for beer in a bar sounds like a great idea. Looks like i will have to get the train.

As for the same faces winning every year then yes it does seem like that. But it isnt impossible, effort, skill, inspiration and luck give everybody a chance.

You yourself Vincenti havent always been in the winning elite at GD, although you are now. :p So you give the rest of us hope.

@vincenti I was hoping to met up with the Oz cmoners this year and do just as you said.

Times & Venue

As we get nearer the event we will make a definate rendevous location and troop over to the Bar/ Lounge on mass like last year.Lets turn it into a\" FESTIVAL OF MODELLERS \". It was like a U.N. meeting last time but with every one actually getting on well. ORB and I will keep every one informed of specifics.Maybe people could bring works in progress to get eye to eye input and encouragement , let the good times roll !!!lol GOD bless ..................VINCENTI

I\'ll probably be there from friday night to sunday evening or monday morning so I\'ll have plenty of time to meet up with people before the event aswell! :) If I\'m not doing any last minute tuning that is.. lol

Choose something that you youself are going to enjoy painting. Don\'t just choose something that you think the judges are foing to want to see.

To spend the kind of hours it\'s going to take to get the model up to GD standard, it better be something you like and have a passion for. Otherwise you are going to get bored and end up not doing it to a standard you are happy with

On the backs of minis thing, the jusges do turn all of the models round to face them when they dod the jusging, but yep, definately good to have a consistently good job all around the mini

Another good tip might be \'Don\'t spread yourself too thin\'. There\'s no point doing lots of entries up to a decent standard when you could concentrate on a couple of entries and do them to the highest possible level you can achieve
