So are these tickets going on sale soon or is GW doing the usual ouijah board and hope as to when we can buy tickets?

I would like to go but 2 and a bit months notice for demon is a bit poor.

To be honest I'm actually surprised GW are holding one.
But seeing how fast AndyG & Ten Ball can paint I'm sure they could each cobble something together.

i don't know what kind of competition they're expecting tho, sending out info just two months in advance. can't say i expect any of the "elite" are being given time to prepare.

The "elites" can start it as soon as the last one finished or the week before the show. I'm still waiting to hear off anyone else yet before I get my hopes up.

The email from GW customer services:

Hello Lee,
There's an announcement coming later this week, but as a bit of sneaky advice, you may want Sunday October 12th in your diary. Watch games-workshop.com for more details about the new event coming up!

thanks

Yep its official, and am now working out if its worth the cost of travel and staying overnight on sat and sunday, as sunday flights\trains are expensive.

The only flights from Brum to Abz are at 6:15 so getting to the airport after judging would be tight, so staying till Monday is safer for getting home. Still coming in at about £230

I don't mind I just don't want to spend all that and find out I don't have enough time to finish the stuff or its not good enough and it was a wasted trip. My other worry is if this has been thrown together by GW it may be a repeat of the NIA last year but maybe better lighting for the GD stuff.

Anyone else from the CMON\WAMP groups looking to go? We could meet and have a laugh.

sorry, but it would cost for me also around £200-250 (or even more depending on flight) and for me not even the laugh at gw is worth that much.
(also I'm pretty sure they wouldn't let me enter with a scale75 model :D )

I was balking at the costs too, but I found I could FLY!! to Birmingham for less that the train and its 6 hours shorter each way and I can stay at the venue (small hotel in the stadium) so while its £200 its simpler and less stressfull than getting to the NEC\NIA via bus. I also want to enter GD this year a lot and have been looking forward to it, so I am taking it as my second very short holiday on my own :). Any thoughts on a painters meet up this year as missed the last few.

Any plans for a meet up this year from the CMON bunch? There is a hotel in the venue and a bar I believe. What are we all looking to paint for this year.

Going for Diorama and 40k vehicle this year, god loves a tryer!

At the cleaning up and filling stage, a LOT of bubbles in my cast on this one :S

Actually its a FW kit, a basilisk canopy and interior. Nowt major or liguid green stuff wont cure. Bit or warpage too, but hot water has flattened it out.

I'm Planning on going on the Sunday for the GD competition - depending on what the catagories are. I assume that they'll be the same as previous years but can't seem to find anything on the GW site so far. It'll probably be just the one entry for me - the open category.

Not quite sure the point of holding it over 2 days, especially as there is nothing special on the Sat to entice people to go both days.

I spoke with a GW person and they said that they are getting an info pack about it on the 20th of August.

She said she cant see them changing the categories or if they do in any major way. We will see.

I am sunday only too, going down on the sat afternoon.

Talk abut leaving it until the last minute. I wonder if they planned it like this or if it was a late decision? Either way I'm not sure this will entice the usual crowd to partake in the event - especially those from overseas. At least the cost of the ticket has come down.

Thinking about it there may be a reason to go on the Saturday - when is the Army on Parade being judged? Anyone know?

No idea, have heard a few bits and pieces about it, but it may be armies is going to be a different day or a separate thing next year?? It does all smack of rushed through, but hopefully my FW stuff arrives today so I can start my diorama as times a wasting.....What do you mean I have to go visit the GF's relatives....why cant I take my painting stuff.....:(
