Golden Griffon Norway 2006

I don\'t really know why I\'m posting this thread, but I just want to show that Norway has more to offer than fjords and vikingslol

A couple of weeks ago there was a painting competition called Golden Griffon in Norway. I took some pics and I wanted to share them. Some of the minis were brought home before I took the pics, so you can\'t see some all of the minis.

menace won the LOTR category, but he brought the mini home before I took the pics, but you can see the amazing mini here.

I took silver in the large scale category, but of course I was stupid enough to remove my mini before taking the pics, but you can see the mini here.

The space wolf terminator won the golden griffon statue (kinda like the slayer sword), it was an amazing mini, one of the best I\'ve ever seen in real life, congrats Brage!

Congrats to all the winners and the guys that took silver and bronze. All the minis had won at a local store, so all of the minis were amazing, too bad I couldn\'t take pictures of them all.

If any guys from Norway (exept from menace and Banjo) see this, please send me an pm, I\'m interested in meeting some other guys from Norway.

I love your large scale figure M.P. He looks really tough and menacing , just the way a marine should look, please post a good pic on site . There is nothing wrong with Vikings , & as for FJORDS, I spent many a long day by one, waiting for the U.S.M.C to turn up to play war ....they never did show , ...scared eh !!!! lol

Cool! Do you have any more pics of Unge Talenter? It is a rare treat to see minis painted by other Youngbloods ^^

@Penguin: How did you knew that unge talenter was youngbloods?lol But no, I don\'t have any more pics of them. I really like seeing pics of youngbloods too (maybee cause I was a YB a year ago, now I have to compeet against adults), it always amazes me how well kids paint today

No I am not from Norway but I was born there and lived in Bærums Verk untill last november when we moved to Iceland. sad as last year my best entries were diqualified beacause the flyer didnt say how large the diorama base was supposed to be.

Last year my diorama was disqualified too This year there was a open category were you could enter pretty much everything. This year I only entered a mini in the large scale category, theres a link in the post.

Wow, Emperor vs Horus, sounds cool (and difficult) do you got any pics?

Mine was Frodo Sam and Gollum in moria. Frodo and Sam is walking beside a large boulder, and Gollum is standing a the top. I tried to capture the scene just before Gollum jumps down from the boulder.

Many Kudos Mikkel for taking the time to take pics, i would have done but for the expense of using analogue these days!

Your mini was much better in the flesh, it\'s a pity we did not meet on the day... i did meet Torstein and we had a good chat, we discussed painting days and maybe if you get anymore Norwegians interested/replying to this thread we could start our own Norsk malerskole for miniatyrer, i would be happy to host such a thing in Oslo...

Maybe we could also nhelp each other with photography

Me and Torstein have discussed some things too. We have discussed the possibilities of starting a norwegian painting team, and painting days would be awesome, it\'s a great oppertunity to learn tchniques from eachother A miniature painting school is a great idea too, the only problem is to find out where to host it And concerning photograpy, I could really need some advicelol

I worked it out: unge-young talenter-talent. My aunt and uncle and my cousins live in Oslo (one of my cousins is the best skateboarder in Norway ) so I know some of the language as I have been there before, I\'m small-part-Norwegian

Best skateboarder? What\'s his name? I used to skate so I probably have heard of him. Wow cool, didn\'t know that you were small part norwegian Did you see some polar bears or raindeers on your trip to norway?lollol

There arnt any polar bears in Norway there might be some on Svalbard but im not sure. Amazing what you forget after seven months in another country.

Yeah, I know there aren\'t any polar bears in Norway, but they live in svalbard. It was only a joke because a couple of days ago there was an article in a norwegian newspaper about the questions tourists asked the tourist information in norway. One of them were: \"Where are all the polar bears and raindeers\"lol

That doesn\'t sound right neighborly of them...Maybe they went to the Cjhevolet instead...lol
