beautiful minis. gollum is amazing - a great face. celeborn is nice too, very nice subtle colors. sad to say though the eye stands out still. the left eyebrow is a bit faint and he does appear a bit wall-eyed. as a positive though, i really dig the faint freehand.
best \"stalker\" ive seen.

thanks! :)

Funnymouth: Not sure what you mean by wall-eyed. Enlarged whites or cross-eyed? I don\'t see that he squints. But I agree that they stand out with large contrast, breaks a bit with the subtle appeal of the face.. even though it shows more in picture. I\'m quite happy with the eyes non the less, they are very small.

Vike: thanks :) yeah.. they are quite less drowsy than the actor in the films ;)

Aw, don\'t pick on poor Martin Csokas! ;)

The face on Celeborn is fantastic. Eyes look great considering how tiny they are. I like the freehand on his robe, but it\'s almost *too* subtle.

i have just been researching Celeborn for myself and feel a bit \'beaten to it\' with the quality of your colour and textile reproduction but i would agree that the eyes are a little distracting, whether it is the photography or not he seems to have a mass of reflection which doesnt quite match. sometimes a particular aspect can be difficult to correct when laboured on so much. personally i dislike glints in the eyes so this may just be a subjective opinion or critcism of taste! the hair and flesh tones are top drawer, well done on an excellent mini:)

i would have commented on the page but i can\'t seem to get the site to send me an email!:flame: any suggestions?

ps i\'ll be posting my first mini next month if you want to get your teeth into some criticism!

I find it\'s often tricky to guage how well LoTR minatures have been painted so I\'ve recently started saving them to my PC. That way I can view it at actual size to remind me just how tiny these things are, then blow it up to check the brushwork.

These are fantastic. They made me go crikey when I shrunk them because you have got so much detail into such a small space, and when blown up they both remain smooth and clean.

I had to give Golum a 10, I love the ambience of the piece. Celeborn got a 9. The back of his cloak, where it rests on the floor looks a bit rushed. I\'m not sure if you went for a slight transparency effect, or the highlights are just a bit stark, but it seems a little out of place against the other silky smooth blends.

Great stuff though.

i\'m sorry to say i agree with funnymouth - his left eye looks a little weird. which is a shame because apart from that, those two are some of the best lotr models i have seen. the gollum just rocks! geddit - rocks?! (anyone?)

thanks all for your kind comments! :)

@menace: thanks for the comment, and I hope you find inspiration! I used pictures from the movies and on the actors clothes as a reference. As for your problem.. I can\'t help. Can\'t you log into your account if you can login here?

@freakinacage well.. I did wetblending \'on the rocks\'. Quite a special technique ;) That is why he\'s living such a hard rock life..

My brain has like shut down after repainting the eyes like 15 times. (not kidding!) So that\'s why whatever you say I refuse to see that there is anything wrong with them... lol

I will not repaint them. Because I\'m not an anally retentive perfectionist. *reaches for brushes* I will not..I will not All work and no play makes..

goodnight all! :)

Having seen the repainted Celeborn in real life (at least I think it was the latest version, right? ;) ) I can safely say the eyes look better in real life. I think the reflections in the eyes come out as very stark when seen on a computer screen. Since the screen emits light the pure white glints become very piercing to the point of becoming distracting, whereas in real life they don\'t look nearly as dominating.

Both are excellent, I do love Gollums \'rocks\'. They are some of the best painted rocks I have ever seen!

Not joking for a change.

Those eyes are way cool. I must be turning into a complete mini geek though - the oart I like best is the highlights on the back of his hair! :D
Really cool mini (you got an extra point out of me - this time I voted 9)

How many times have you done his eyes now? ;) This time I think you\'ve nailed them. His slightly hypnotical stare has now turned into a more tranquil gaze, which seems a lot more fitting.

Well thanks! I\'m really glad that I did it. I think I wasn\'t really satisfied with them until now.. I just kept thinking that I couldn\'t do them better because of the size. But this last time I had better confidence and also felt (maybe as a result) that my precision had increased.

ehum well.. I won\'t lie if I said that I have repainted them like.. 15-20 times from the start. I\'m still not sure if there even was an eyesculpt to begin with. Most other Celeborns I\'ve seen seems to be squinting.

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing.

Did I say Amazing.

How can you paint the eye\'s so accurate, do you use a magnifying glass? A brush with only 1 hair on it.

They are so perfectly done, you\'d think they were huge mini\'s.
