I have just put my Wolves on E bay after a short expedition into the world of 40 K gaming.I started collecting & playing about 4 years ago and after the usual string of defeats soon got the hang of how to use my Wolves to their best advantage.Coming to the game in my early 40s and having spent most of my life studying military history I soon found that winning or drawing was not that difficult.
In the end a combination of work commitments and good old fashioned boredom and my boys are leaving the den for good. This got me too thinking are there any other older Marine players out there who also like me are wondering wether the game system itself might be geared a little in favour of the Space Marines. They have such awesome bits of kit that are usable by all Chapters, and as for veihcles and weapons ,well they are positively wicked ( assault & las canons).
Any way I would be interested in peoples opinions on the subject.

GOD bless ...........VINCENTI

Space Marines are decent, but at the higher levels of competitive gaming there are plenty of armies that can cause them issues, particularly as many people build their forces to kill Marines.

Space Marines make up a massive amount of GW\'s sales, so they do get way too much focus, which I think can make them seem like they rule the roost in terms of quality too. The standard Space Marine Codex is very good and offers a massive amount of options and versatile traits to suit any playing style. The stand alone ones for Black Templars and Dark Angels make them much less effective, but still tough.

Assault cannons are definately very nasty with their rending ability, and sticking them on Landspeeders, which are stupidly good for their points becomes a far too common tactic. I don\'t think lascannons are really worth taking though. Would rather have more assault cannons.

Yes, Marines are tough, but in the hands of a good general there are a vast amount of forces out there that can do them in quickly. It\'s also rather difficult to build a really broken and evil Marine list, whereas there are cunning and evil ploys available to many other forces that are just truly nasty.

So no, the game system doesn\'t favour Marine players at all in my opinion.

Well maybe I´m not such a great gamer or my opponents are tougher then I am but I´d say my ultramarines win and lose in a ration of about 1:1, I agree mariens are tough but there are some armies that can be just as tough or ever tougher ( I think of necrons especially, I think htey are a paint to fight against.

I think that the Space Marines get too much focus. I mean, they get all these sweet ass conversion sprues, there are like 4 armies of them that get books, and the majority of GD limited figures are marines.

I\'m not complaining, Marines are sweet, but I don\'t think anything in any other of GW\'s ranges get as much attention.

A few Eldar or Ork customization sprues would be killer.

That being said... Space Wolves own.

Marines make up about 80% of GW\'s total sales, so there is no real surprise that they get a fair bit of attention!

I agree that Ork customisation sprues would be nice though.

Hmmm. 375 GBP starting price and only a full army pic and a poorly lit detail picture of a few models.

I\'m no psychologist, but I\'d say this is a passive-aggressive to method for actually keeping your Space Wolves.

If nobody bids this time, hold onto them until GW is revamping the Space Wolves codex. They will likely sell for a lot more then.

Adrian,

If you have no bids by the time you read this Id highly suggest you pull the auction and relist and sell everything off as units and take better pictures. Large armys never get the money they should.

I agree, selling them all as single units will more likely make alot more money than an entire army. Thats why i sold all of my Orc\'s and Goblins seperately.

No, a lot less, evertime a new army comes out the old minis can be found cheap on ebay.

Yes and no..Im pretty positive Vincentis Space wolves are painted to a pretty high standard.. not your average slopped together 2 color paint job with lots of bare metal showing through.

High quality painted miniatures will always get a nice price..no matter what codex is coming out.
