good colours to use when painting orcs

i know this sounds a silly question, but i\'ll justify it.

there are sooo many different types of green out there. i want to know a good group of paints that work from a white undercoat for painting ork flesh. were talking high end painting (so complimentary shading, glazes etc)

i really don\'t know where to start .

i\'d rather base it aound gw colour (as they are easy for me to get + reliable)

to help i tend to think along the lines of a base colour and then 1st shade, 2nd shade , 1 st highlight and so forth.

any help is gratefully appreciated.

i aint never painted an ork in my life!

Basecoat with dark angels green, highlight with bleached bone or scorpian green. (BB will get a natural fleshy tone, SG will get a bright fantasy tone)
Shade with either browns or purples mixed with black.

chees matty and you\'re a geordie too!

darkangel green seems a bit too dark for a base coat to mee but i\'ll give it a go.

You could always start with dark angels green and some of the highlight colour mixed in for an overall lighter shade.

Aye, im a geordie! Whey up the toon! Im gnashing fer a stottie! (Which is what torn blue sky thinks geordies do all day, that and watch Byker Grove lol )

actually start with catachan green for a different color, use some rotting flesh with catachan green, then highlight more with bleached bone, and up to skull white. on the edge of the hands and feet and nose i like to use dwarf flesh as well with the final highlights. its a different shade than what dark angels will do. if you want a typical orc then go with matty\'s idea its what eavy metal starts with.

hope it helps.

Yep that works aswell, basically you can start with any dark green colour, and work up with either a lighter green, or an off white colour, or very light brown.

My favorite colour for Orc\'s at the moment is Thornwood green by P3.

i hope you dont mind if i post some examples,

if you start with catachan green, shade with purple/brown, and then paint from catachan-goblin-goblin+white. this is what i get

or if you do the same as above but substitue the goblin green with camo,,,i get this...

and if you want to do something really different,,,like grey skinnd orks by
base codex and black,,,mix dwarf flesh in to the base colour for highlights to warm the colour,,and then add white to the mixx for highlights i get this...

i hope that helps a little.

The big mek skin is what i would go with. The top one is good, but not to my taste.
And the bottom one is a great example of just how many ways you can paint Ork skin.
