I\'m about to do this for the first time on a mini scale and I\'d like to see some gooder examples for inspiration in how to tackle the lettering. So anyone got any favs they\'d like to share?

Check through script (hand written style) fonts and the gothic style ones.
You could also have a look through the serif sections for a plainer (well not really plainer...less elaborate) type face.

Thanks guys, but I meant on minis :D I\'ve edited the thread title now to make it clearer.

I have found that making the areas of lettering gray instead of black gives them a less heavy handed look.
Definitely.

Thanks for that example Bill, I\'m hoping more for something like a page from a manuscript, maybe with an illuminated initial (not sure what I want to do yet)?

I don\'t know mini ranges that well so this is not something you can search for.

O well, still I suppose the font websites could come in handy if you are looking for lettering inspiration. (For the parchments)

The pic is kinda small to see the detail well, but is this something like you\'re looking for?

Actually Matt I\'m a trained typesetter :) But this scale is far too small to try to represent actual letters, that\'s why I was looking for inspiration pics on how people have tackled this kind of thing on a kickass paintjob.

Many miniatures with open books has had some great freehand excercises done on them.

Like Misan the Clarirvoyant from Rackham for example.

This one by Matt Parkes: http://coolminiornot.com/113277

I like this version of Celestine as well by Neil Green: http://coolminiornot.com/98225

One preacher by Matteo DeFranceschi:
