Most fluorecent lightbulbs come in different variations. Ask for the one closest to daylight.

Daylight bulbs are useful, but they are so bright they tend to cast very harsh shadows.

I\'m not sure how to overcome this without using multiple lights, but I only have the one daylight bulb, so... :s

the lamp i use has a 18w daylight bulb in it and it is perfect for me its not to bright as to cast a glare over the workstation, as Dan says some are to bright

is that the one you use generul 2x15watt is that not to bright

it\'s ideal (especialy working long for hours at a time)
i have the room lights on as well whilst i paint and then just use that light for photography (don\'t have enough room for my light tent and photography lights anymore :~( )

Awesome lamp... great clear clean light. The aussie dollar is cheap and you can take another 10% off the listed price because overseas buyers don\'t pay australias GST

The maplin light is excellent for painting. I bought one and a spare tube at a special offer price. Been using it two years with no problems. I found it awkward to positions so removed two of the springs.

Granddad!
I use an Actulite task light
I got mine at the 2004 Euromilitaire, along with a spare tube, I\'m still yet to change it

I\'m even toying with the idea of lighting the workshop with the larger versions (when I finish extending it)

edit: ooh! ooh! they do \'em in black now too

If too bright

but they are so bright they tend to cast very harsh shadows.

Try flat black paint or covering your work station with a black sheet.

Also good for helpping your eyes focus better

No matter what lights you choose, what I have found important and useful is to have two lightsources and have them be moveable.
