Good paints to *not* paint with :)

After nearly two years of not painting anything all my flip top GW paints opened easily, required no more than the normal shaking, and none were dried out. The white is a little thick but still totally useable.

So whatever people think of GW paints for painting with, they seem to be pretty good for not painting with. :D

I got into the habit of keeping a pair of vice-grips at my painting table because of those $%#@ \"bolter shell\" screw tops!

Hmm, may be worth me digging around in my dad\'s attic for my paints from around 17 years ago. How I\'d love to get that Woodland Green back

I\'ve found that even if they\'ve dried into solid lumps, most acrylics can be revivied with boiling water and a lot of stirring/shaking.

Although I wouldn\'t use the \"revived\" paint for anything important :p

I still have GW paint from 10 years ago goin\' strong (Gotta love Boltgun metal)

Multiply that by five and then we\'ll talk; go for ten times and I\'ll be impressed :D

I have some tube acrylics that are older than a few of the members here; none of them are perfect any more but with a bit of mixing they\'re absolutely useable still.

Ive got some GW paints from when i first started (8-9 years ago) and they work fine where as some i bought a year or so ago are hard as nails.

got to agree here, some of my gw paints are appoaching 15 or so years now and still going strong. only recently had to buy a new yellow and bleach bone but thats only because i left it open and went out.

I feel you. I clamp them in my mini-vice attached to my desk and use one of those rubber jar openers that you get from the grocery store. Those paint pots are what drove me to Vallejo, though I find their droppers still aren\'t amazing. I switched back to the GW flip tops for my metals, bleached bone, and skull white. I found VGC\'s metals sucked, and I had horrible luck with the bone and white in dropper bottles because I used it so much.

I absolutely agree with what everyone has posted about the longevity of the old Citadel paints.
When the screw tops came out I only bought a couple and refused to buy anymore as they are a nightmare to use and keep clean. Either GW were really stupid to have designed them that way or really smart to ensure more sales.
However my old flip tops I bought in the very ealy 90\'s.....or even late 80\'s, are still good to go.
