Google street view, too much?

I don\'t know what you guys think about this, the ability for ANYONE on the internet to be able to look at anyone elses house (in the UK or US currently) seems to be a bit creepy.

I didnt mind having a satelite image avalible from above, but comon and full 3d image of the frount of my house??

I can see your point, but at the same time... ANYONE is allowed to walk past your house, and look at it, so... what\'s the difference, really? Yes, in reality just anyone won\'t be able to due to practical reasons, but most people won\'t bother looking at other people\'s houses on Google either.

Yes, i agree, i\'ve not really got an opinion on it, just wanted to see what other people thought :p

One thing i do think though is that with all governments going on about global warming, then they drive a van with a camera on around every street in the UK and US to take some pretty pictures.

I see how it might be annoying... but as a person who currently is looking for a house this feature is absolutely god-sent.

I would have loved this when I lived in Key West. Then I lived in the “Cat House” (The “Casa Gato” … the Gatos were a very famous family on the island and the house was used at one point as a hospital) and the building was just cool looking even though it was a simple two story building.

I was jsut chattin to my dad about it, turns out he saw the van taking the pics about a mile down the road whilst driving home and our van can be seen twice in the same area but in differnt places lol

The biggest fear people got is from robbers.

they can now log onto google, case your joint, look at what Security alarm system you got (if you got one), and choose who to break into.........all from the comfort of their armchair.

I\'ve had the same concern. BUT I do fall on both sides of the fence on this one. As Ritual said, anyone can walk past your house and see it anyway. I have used it to find places I\'m going and not sure of where it is or what to look for. I guess it\'s just the ease with which someone....anyone anywhere can get that close to me. There is a certain comfort to anononimity and this strips off another layer of that.

Personally I love this new feature. I recently had to drive down to Kentucky for work. This proved to be very useful as I always drive by landmarks. So instead of trying to remember Take Exit 298 and turn left at Mcstreetname, intead I just remembered Exit after the Giant Jesus statue and turn left at the Coffee shop.
