So I started using Google+ today after being invited. It's confusing me a lot. Anyone else on there yet? See any future in it? I'm not really sure I see the point to it yet.

Yup, I got an invite the other day. I think that it's going to slowly edge along and perhaps gain a following - mostly from Android phone users. It's got various things like video chat and what not. Biggest differences to FB are a) No games or spam filling up wall and b) The "Circle" concept makes it really easy to share posts with a circle of friends - e.g. modelling; family

Maybe their appeal will be based on not whoring your personal details out to every evil corporation or Russian mafia scammer who pays them a few bucks for it, like FB does. But yeah I still use FB a lot :p

I think it's going to take me a little while to fully figure it out. Only then will I be able to actually judge it.

It's part of Google's bid to take over the Internet too - integrates with the Google Cloud apps, your Android phone and Android table. Soon it will integrate with your brain via a GoogleX Mind Implant which Google will have delivered (ninja style) to your house by the time you read this...

Yeah, got an invite this morning too. Looks a little bare boned at the moment, but of course it's Google and we're comparing it to Facebook. It might make a go of things though, the connection to Picasaweb Albums is a nice touch, although I think it would be better to strike a deal with Flikr with more users/albums/photos.

I always found if funny the amount of noise people make about Facebook selling the data. It is a free thing, no different than network television or the the price of magazines not being 10x more than they are... I've never had to worry though, I've never shared anything I wouldn't tell a stranger anyway.

As mentioned before, the ability to share things by "Circles" is an interesting concept. Although all of the people I'm friends with on Facebook know I'm a geek/nerd, it might be nice to only share/bore my modeling and painting friends with that type of info and spare my relatives :)

can anyone summerise what this is? have tried googling but all i get is a load of spiel

It's google's answer to Facebook. It's a social networking site being developed by Google that promises as one of it's main features to allow you to share content only with certain privileged "circles" of contacts. The reason being, why share your party photos with your boss if your boss wasn't at the party, but you may want your boss to see some other updates that are pertinent to your job life. So you'd create circles of friends, family, contacts et al. and you can selectively choose which content or updates go to which circle.

I was beginning to think I was the only one preaching this. Of coarse don't get me started on how google is an evil corporation too. I use yahoo, cause that's what I am.
