got a new toy

warning - this is not a toy:

the dremel stylus (i believe it has been mentioned here before)

bought it yesterday on impulse (a bit expensive at £60 for an impulse but hey). have charged it up and had a go. very nice it is too. come with a few handy bits and it\'s cool charger/stand. variable speed means that you can sand down without being left with a puddle of molten metal at the end of it! lovely ergonomic design is good for lefties and right handers. it\'s quiet and cordless which is cool. also, apparently, the motor cuts out if it stalls meaning that broken drill bits should be reduced. haven\'t tried drilling with it yet - i need a different size collet for my 1mm drill bits

all in all, would reccommed it so far. the best mini drill thing for our hobby that i have ever used

i actually have a 1937 version that i inherited from my grandfather when he passed but my mom has it at her house. get this... the damn thing still works. albeit probably not as good as this new doo-hicky. but still pretty darn cool.

i have emailed the guys at an online toolshop as i\'m not sure which size collet i need. the lowest speed feels as if it would be slow enough to even drill plastic but i am not sure about that - haven\'t found anything slow enough not to melt it yet. might as well use a pin vice

That\'s were Dremel demarks itself from other brands, longetivity ! Exept for this tool, which demarks itself by style also...

Yep, my mum and dad got me one for Christmas last year. I love it! How did I ever live my life without this handy device before?
I removed the integrated base off of a partially painted Reaper Oriental dragon without doing any major damage to the figure. Also found a tiny, rubbery, cone-shaped sanding accessory which is perfect for getting those seams tucked into corners and other hard to reach areas.

My fiance got me one for last christmas and since then i have retired my other dremel. This thing is much smaller, lighter and easier to control. The lowest setting will indeed drill plastic without melting it and i have not broken a bit since using it. As was mentioned earlier if the bit gets stuck the moter will shut down so i don\'t have the lethal whipping mini stuck on a bit any more. The power button is placed just right where you can quickly turn it off with one finger, unlike my old one.

Yeah, Ive got a bigger chunky beast thing, corded monster, but the way my desk is set up it doesnt matter, Ive got a multi part bench with a nice little hidden shelf where it lives.

And lethal whipping miniature...

I was carving a bigger hole in the weapon star thing from a black stone fortress, using a gouger bit, which was probably silly anyway, and I got sick of taking so long, and wacked it up to 33000 full tit, and it was fine until I lost my grip, and this star thing started doing that speed.

Lots of fun and games until someone loses an eye.

I am about this close [ ] to buying one. The only reason I havn\'t is because you can\'t get em on Wallsend highstreet and I would have to go to B&Q (Which is only about 30mins away, im just a lazy git)

Iv got the money, and if people tell me they are SERIOUSLY worth it, I may be swayed.
