I saw these in a local 'upscale' gift shop and was just taken in by how cool they were. They are cubes that are about 6 inches on a side, lit from within by LED's. Immediately I'm thinking this is something I GOTTA DO!! MINI'S!!

I hope I'm not the only one who wants to try this......it will probably take me a long time to get around to doing one. BEAT ME TO IT!!!

That's similar to the box dioramas that some of the historical modellers do.

This one was Best Of Show at Euromilitaire this year:

And here's one done by a friend of mine:

Obviously, it looks a lot more impressive in real life (that goes for the one above, as well). The lighting is very cleverly positioned and dimensioned to create an impression of daylight coming in from the window. This had to be done by placing several lights in different directions, some to compensate for the actual light shining in through the window creating too severe shadows.

Nice one Shawn but can you balance the whole thing on a 25mm gaming base

It might be a way to work on the forced shadow throwing mini idea I want to attempt some day. More fuel for my pondering, excellent!

I've often wanted to try making a shadow box diorama; just can't ever seem to think of anything to put together.

@Friar, Ritual - those are FANTASTIC!!

@BPI It might be a way to work on the forced shadow throwing mini idea.
I was thinking of doing some forced perspective and lifting some backgrounds from National Geographic. Might even try to make transparency's of the backgrounds so as to be able to back light them.
