My first mini "flying solo" after going through the Reaper Learn to Paint kits. I was interested in doing an homage to Assassin's Creed and decided to use the Soil Color, Blood Color, and Bone Color triads from Reaper for my color scheme. Inspired by "Oathkeeper" from A Song of Ice and Fire, I wanted to give the sword a red undertone. I used a Carnage Red base coat and then layered by metallics over the red. I'm like how it turned out but feel like it could be better. I really like this sculpt and might grab another copy for the future.

That is a thoroughly impressive first mini. Everything is neat and tidy, and your colour choices compliment each other well. For a next-step, some brighter highlights and some darker shades will make it all look even lovelier :) Still, job is absolutely a good un.

Nice work! The muted color scheme really works for this one. I recommend thinning your paints some more, and working on highlights and shading. Tighter brush control will come with practice.

Good luck, and keep it up!

It's a nice early piece of work to have turned out, well done :good:

Keep working on neat "to the edges" brushwork and, as has been said, thin your paints just a little to build up smoother coats.

Couple of easy things that could have been done before entering into the Gallery...

Bit of paint rubbed of the bottom edge of the cloak, couple of brushstrokes to fill it back it in.

Red shoulder strap to her right, there's a blank vertical stripe that could be coat, flesh or red strap. I think I'd go for red.

Her teeth. I suspect the sculpt may be a hindrance here, though I'm not familiar with it. I thought at first that she was sticking out her tongue. I can see now that they're painted white but I'm losing them against the very pale flesh. Just popping in some shade/darkline on that lower gum to define the teeth from the lip would be nice. Lipstick being an easy choice of course :D

What's next under the brush?

Cheers, B.

Thanks for all of the encouragement and suggestions. :cute: I think that my next project will be Lorna the Huntress from Reaper. I'm thinking of some sort of Irish schema, will bright greens and red hair. Good chance to work on skin tones and maybe try out some transparency effects.

Nice job! Some of the skin looks a bit rough, and that cloak is kinda flat, but otherwise a very solid mini!
