Grail Chapel Colour

Hi,

I\'m just wondering if anyone has some suggestions of how to paint stone that isn\'t the standard \"codex grey\" colour.

My rocks on the bases of my Bretonnians are a \"codex\" stone colour but I also have some ruined buildings which I need to contrast with the colour of my models.

Does anyone have thoughts of what other stone colours I could go with for my ruined grail chapel.

I\'m trying to get inspiration from looking at various churches and castles which seems to give a grey/yellow mix but it\'s still tricky to find a colour I like.

My army is mainly painted in reds/blues and whites on snow bases and you can see some of the pictures below if it aids an idea.

Any links for guides to painting buildings would be welcome and thanks for the help!

I\'ll give it a go Trevor, I\'ve also got some interesting vallejo ideas using sandstone colours as well, so experimenting is the way forward. :)

Cheers for the idea.

I\'d use snakebite and bone. with the occasional darker patch. I have a Bret Castle painted like this and it looks good. IMHO anyway. Good luck.

Any standard black + white grey mix (or a premade grey) can be toned with anything, it\'s just a matter of what you\'re looking for. I prefer a more neutral to brownish grey often so I just mix in some of a dark umber colour, works a treat.

Try different things from your palette and see what you think of the results.
