The mausoleum turned out great. With the off green to blue-grey of the stones, the grimness of its place in the natural world comes through quite well.

Can I ask how you made the bricks? Is it just greenstuff/modelling clay? I'm guessing you didn't use a mold, or else they wouldn't have come out as irregularly shaped.

@Dexter: Thanks :) With all that piles of undone things at my desk I feel like not progressing. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Yeah... this weekend I've been asked by my gaming buddy, whether we can do the next game. So I detected, that I've been missing to get a sorcerer together.
I didn't like the GW mini, so I decided to do some kit-bashing. Here's the result: http://www.coolminiornot.com/451347

Voted and commented. You may very well be the most productive painter on CMON. You never slow down and are always creating something cool. The latest Nurgle beast is no exception! :)

Wow Graishak! This looks awesome! I think you've hit the sweet spot with that green nurgly mix, it looks like the perfect slimy shaded tint for that beast.
And the teeth are great too. Looking forward to seeing this one progress, especially those dark orbs for eyes and what you plan to do with them.

always great to see so much creativity, bud. I really like the little mausoleum you made.

Thanks Toad :) Your terrain pieces were more than one time an insiration for me.

Wow... I'm blushing!!! Thank you so much Kuribo.

Your newest construction looks like a living pile of toxic waste. Perfect for all things Nurgle!

Thanks Guawol. That was exactly my intention :)

Thanks Chris! Did some progress on the beast. Not yet happy with the eyes... but we're getting closer.

That's an interesting take on the eyes. Usually I'd expect a well defined pupil (of whatever shape, could be a circle or a slit or something) to clearly indicate an eye, however alien it might be.
However, insect eyes are multi-faceted, so I say go for it. See how this turns out!

Well, these look monstrous! Like a triple whammy of Sauron. Love that orange/red gradient, and the shiny reflection sells the effect.
What some people will do is put a bit of gloss varnish over eyes like these, that makes them pop even more - but it is totally up to you.

And I think you could have gone somewhere interesting with the previous version, but it would probably have taken a bit more work to come across as eyes.

The new eyes gives it a resident evil boss monster vibe.

I was thinking Sauron myself, lol. Great paint job, and I think I know what kind of look you were going for Graishak. It reminds me of an old Eavy Metal article from back in early 2000s, that applied a colored marbling effect to Drukhari armor. I only had a chance to apply it to one model, an original Incubi, and it worked great. It's a bit of a process, but I'll go over it in case you'd like to try and apply it to a future project. You start with a darker shade of the color, and go for a veiny effect, and layer it lighter and lighter, leaving a slight edge of the previous shade, with the last being white. Then you use a wash in the base color, to stain the white and pick up the depth from the other shades. I did this set to a black basecoat, but with some tweaking I'm sure it has numerous applications, including the hollow Lovecraftian look I think you were going for.

@Gorb: Thanks buddy :) The varnish advice was well received!
@Dexter: Thx - sometimes it is good to give things a 2nd try
@Gawol: Happy you like it!
@EaterofLives: Sounds like a thing I'd like to try out. Do you have some illustrations to share with me? In fact, I have one head, tongue and bits for tentacles left to build another beast - so looking forward for further instructions :)

The Best #2 is now finished and to my mind it is topping the first one: http://www.coolminiornot.com/451649

Unfortunately, the model I used it on was lost over a decade ago. I managed to hold onto that single model for quite some time, and between moves it vanished. I will take some time to try and replicate the effect on some of my newer incubi, and share them in a step by step process. I did it once, so I should be able to do it again.
