That\'s a compliment, btw.

This beastie is just downright disgusting - but in a good way. Excellent paint work. The gore is beautifully done and the transitions are very smooth. It\'s just a really great piece.

I think this turned out fantastic. I gave you a 9. Only thing i really don\'t like is the base. Looks sort of out of place for this mini. Don\'t really fancy the blue/greyish colour or those long straws of grass. Just dosn\'t fit the model imho. But the demon itself is amazing. I really like this rather diffrent approach colourwise. Well done!

I think that the quality of the painting is fantastic. Everything is smooth enough that I\'m guessing you did the bulk of this with an airbrush. If not... well, damn. Either way this is truly outstanding work.

Given that, however, I think it\'s a pity there isn\'t a broader range of colours and highlights. I would love to see what you could accomplish with him if you brought in addtional blech.

Thnx for all the comments and votes, really appreciated it ^^ Yeah, the skin is done with an airbrush, my first try. Really liked using it. Next army will be Tau, I think, with lots of Devilfishes and Hammerheads to airbrush :D

Totally GROSS!

I love it! Only detracts are the base (see above) and maybe the tongue could be a different colour/hue than all the open sores and gore... but that\'s just me. Solid 9 in my book.

Please note that this is my personal opinion and doesn\'t have to be taken as gospel, but I don\'t think that this figure is finished.

I have thought very long about replying on this thread. At first I thought I\'d keep my opinions to myself, but after a great deal of thought I have come to the conclusion that as this site is intended to help painters if I didn\'t give my opinion I\'d be going against my own nature and the intent of the site.

There are so many areas, which to my eyes need additional work. I\'ve copied the photo and edited to try to give a couple of ideas.
Firstly the fissures in the skin need working on, the edges should be palid and like dead tissue and the crevasses should show some necrotising tissue (I\'ve used Purple and Greens to define this).
The small pustules and blisters need to be both shadow defined and have additional highlights.
The face needs to have the edges of skin made pale, as that will help to emphasise the necrotic nature of the skin.
To me there need to be a brownish tone added to the shadows to emphasise dirt and decay.

Reading through im thinking the same DR, the flesh doesn\'t look like it has been highlighted, just base coats witht he airbrush. The blending is great, but a few more stages in highlighting with some brighter colours would help contrast.

Yes, the skin was only airbrushed and glazed, not highlighted. I was afraid to mess up the airbrush work. Thnx for the reply DR, it\'s good that you posted your opinion, just helps me get better:) I might do the highlights but school\'s first now, I\'ve just started a big project making Flash animations for a educational book ;)

I agree with DR in terms of the unfinished thing but again purely on a helpful note...
The stage it is at is truly lovely looking and those few finishing highlights and subtle colour shades would finish off lovely...
also the hand at the sword hilt ...is that a fingernail/claw that is showing or is it just a finger at a funny angle???

top job that I am sure will look stunning when done...

I have to agree with Vike. nearly made me thro. Great stuff. The only comment I would make is the base whilst nice looking and well done may have looked better all dead and diseased. Did the vote thing.

Looks really good, and It\'s really good to see such a mature attitude to taking advice and improving so kudos to you

Incidently, my favourite part has to be that spianl column - it is soooooo freshly gross and gory, absolutely fantstic. And for a first time with the airbrush you\'re showin a lot of natural talent.

JABBA the GUT!

Really cool. I think this is great particularly since you are using it for a gaming army. Your opponents should be too sick to strategize effectively. The guts are a nice slick red. Excellent.
