Greatest car chase ever filmed -

Without a doubt, the best car chase scene, is from the original gone in 60 seconds(not the Nicholas Cage version).

It lasted a good portion of the film, and some of the classic 80s one lines are....well....classic.

I\'m not saying it\'s the best car chase ever, but I saw Quentin Tarantino\'s Death Proof last week and I really enjoyed the car chases there. The fact that the film is stuffed with references to the classic car chase films, mentioned throughout this thread, in true Tarantino style (one of the reasons I enjoy his films) makes it even better.

And, Kurt Russell is excellent in that film! I think it\'s my favourite performance of his ever.

I couldn\'t pick a single one but for a shortlist:
Bullit (even if the Charger loses 6 hubcaps!)
Duel
Ronin
The Bourne Identity
The Italian Job
GoldenEye (stretching the definition, I know)
The Matrix: Reloaded
T2
T3
I Robot

I know its cheesy, but I quite like the car chase in I think live and let die - the one where Mr Bond - aka one acting eyebrow - aka Roger Moore is chased by the sheriff guy and they jump the river?

I\'m sure you all know it :D

Ronin has one of my favorite chase scenes... and of course Bullitt - bring on the muscle!! And I do have to say Matrix Reloaded just because a chase involving kung fu and agents jumping on cars is fun to watch~

After seeing some comments abouts some comedies, I have to say one of my favorite comedic \"chase\" scenes is in Kung Fu Hustle, where the landlady chases the main character all cartoon style... then she goes *splat* on the billboard! Too funny!! :drunk:

Well, if you are counting foot chases then I vote for the beginning of Men in Black.
If we want to include those the two in The Matrix are great too.

Lots of good \'foot\' chases in HK/Taiwanese martial-arts movies and there are at least a couple in some animes (GITS has one IIRC).

Excellent one (or two, depending on how you define chase) in Last Of The Mohicans and I\'m sure there are some other worthy contenders in westerns.

The Seven-Ups
I found mentions of that when I looked online, but I\'m embarrassed to say that I can\'t remember it for the life of me (I know I\'ve seen it). Same with Vanishing Point and the original Gone in 60 Seconds - no recollection!

Not really a car chase though.
