green stuff mold

Hi, I looked at where abouts the mould line is on the piece I wanted to copy, got a blob of G.s. about twice the size on a bit of thick polythene, roughed it out to a rectangle shape the would accomadate the original.
I coated the the original thinly in fine grade oil, very thinly so it\'s easier to get out of the GS, talc is probably better though, and pushed half of the piece into the GS using the mould line as a guide.
When it\'s completely set, repeat with the other side., coating the set GS with oil/talc so the two halves don\'t stick
I\'ve had results ranging from acceptable to throw them straight in the bin.
Worked ok with an assault cannon, but the heads I tried were naff and I ended up sculpting my own.
Good luck.:)

I\'ve had more success using sculpey to create the moulds.
Press the part into the Sculpey.
cure in the oven and press with GS to get the image.

in my experience gs can work well. i like to use a little extra yellow when i make th mold so that it stays flexable after it drys, allowing you to peel it from the cast.

I use Super sculpey, premo and sculpey quite often and never gave em a try at mouldmaking, thanks for the idea !! ;)

Instead I got sculpey\'s super flexible \"moldmaker\" clay wich proven to be a total failure at least for me. I recommend to avoid that at all costs since is too gummy and sticky even after being stored in the freezer.

I really suck at mouldmaking, I did with greenstuff also.

There\'s been quite a few separate posts on this subject - one not all that long ago...

I recall someone (Was it Dark arts?) Saying that they used part-melted GW sprue plastic to make the casts :p

I\'m sure you can find it easily enough with a quick search - hold on... Lemme see...
