Hi Y'all!
Quite excited with my latest project, HassleFree Nubian female. Another nice Kev White's sculpt that I've been looking forward to for a long time. It seems I have a lot of fun, and success with those tiny HF minis.
I must say though it was in a pretty sad shape when I got it, and took a lot of prep work to get it ready, but it happens even to the best lines I guess. There is also a large piece of metal between the left arm and the spear ( I guess this cannot be avoided for the mold making.) that I had to remove, and it was tough not to seriously damage the side in the process.
Anyway, still a beautiful sculpt, and always fun to paint I hope I will do it justice.

So far, skin is mostly done, pretty pleased with it, first attempt at black skin too.
I'll try to get a slightly overhead angle next time, to better reveal the top highlights.

Hmm....I'm very surprised that the quality was bad regarding the model. Did you purchase direct from Hasslefree or via eBay? I know in the past that people have re-cast their models and the quality has not been up to the usual Hasslefree standard.

I mix way too many colors to make an exhaustive list but it's something like that.
Basecoat is Chocolate brown (VMC) with Dark Skintone (VGC) and a hint of Khaki (VGC)
I use a mix of the basecoat colors with Royal Purple (VGC) or dark sea blue (VMC) depending on places, with charred brown (VGC) and Black (VGC) on the darkest shading.
Highlighted with Dark Skintone (VGC) and Cork brown (VMC) Khaki (VGC) Wolf Gray (VGC)
White and a touch of Scorpy green (VGC).
Something like that :)

I bought it from CMON Shop who gets it straight from HF ( I think.)
It's prolly just an older model and a mold which is getting near it's end.
It was not as bad as say, an old ral-partha cast, but not nearly as good as the other HF I got so far.

Update on my african lady
Sorted the face details, tough the eyes need some touches still.
Wasn't planing on doing the transparency thing, but couldn't resist, not quite where I want it to be but I'm working on it, pants need highlights and some sorting where the cloth meets the skin.

Really wasn't satisfied on last update, sorry I submitted such half arsed WIP shots to your attention... I believe that's more like it.

Done with the pants unless I change my mind, I wanted to do just a little sheer effect, but found out this didn't look right until most of the leg was seethrough, that's pretty tough to do right, this effect. Some more work done on the face, the eyes are still not to my liking, sooo small. I will gem out this belt later, I wonder how good I can make it at this scale.

Moving right along, not that much left to do, this one should be done in no time :)

I don't know why my pics are getting less sharp lately, I'd have to ask the photo pros for that.

can't say enough good things about this the hue of the skin is very good light and dark in all the right places. wish i could do as good a job the last one i did came out looking like he'd overdosed on tanning pills (more orange than the tan i was trying for) still super job.

The 'Governor Schwarzenegger' tan, it's quite trendy in California ;)
