Greenpeace fined for reef damage

This is almost as funny as the PETA people who got trampled to death by the pigs they were tyring to \"save\".

Thats kinda funny. I hate the fact that the reef was damaged but I find it bad that Green Peace blamed the Phillipeans for bad maps.

As for the PETA folks..to bad the pigs didnt stop for a bite instead of just running them overlol

anybody witha boat that big has a fathometer, if they were paying attention they wouldn\'t have hit the reef, no matter what maps they had.

COme on, guys! Get with the times! I thought I was the \"old fart\" here Don\'t you realize that EVERYTHING is always someone ELSE\'s fault! This seems to apply doubly to those insisting that others take responsibility for thier own actions.

PS - this is all somewhat akin to when the Sierra Club, a few years back, admitted that it\'s beautiful books on the wonders of nature and the need for ecological awareness were NOT printed on recycled paper because that was too expensive

We live in a world were no one is responsible for there actions but every body is responsible for the action of others.
Besides despite the maps amd the depth finder thingy wouldnt the big black thing in the water be enough warning to slow down.

I love how it is the fault of the third world government for their inaccurate maps. Last time I heard that one was when Australian troops and Indonesian police clashed in east Timor. Turns out it wasn\'t the maps, it was the twit doing the navigating. If this happened in the Navy (any Navy) there would be a few officers facing courts martial.

Oh and of course there is the true tale of a UK Submarine trying to go underneath the Isle of Skye.
As well as the brilliant navigational feat of the Royal Navy landing members of 42 Royal Marine Commando, on exercise, at a Gibraltar beach. Only they were 16 miles in the wrong direction and scared the Sambuca out of a few holiday makers and Spanish police.

Isn\'t it said in the Army that the most scariest thing in existence is an Officer with a map?

It would be nice if these peace/enviromental groups would come up with workable alternatives. Their only soultions seem to consist of STOP THAT. I really support alot of the ideals but seldom see or hear any way to get there.

My feelings exactly. Anybody can bitch and whine. Come up with VIABLE solutions, things that are something more than pipedreams, and I\'ll be willing to listen.

Wasn\'t my fault honest gov...

I was watching Spiderman in the Workshop at the time not driving besides read the press reports that damn rock kept moving and was reported as being 100, 150, 250 and even 500 miles off the coast of Australia how was our poor Navigator supposed to see it....
