Greenstuff Challenge

I\'ve been a little peeved lately at how GW keeps useing the old greenstuff mix when showing off conversions and such in White Dwarf, while only selling the new \'Whitestuff\' (no matter what they call it, it\'s still white) to us. This might have changed because I haven\'t been to a GW store in a while. If it has then this is just a freindly little challenge.

I\'d like to see how well anybody can skulpt something useing the white-blue mix of \'greenstuff\'. Doesn\'t have to be anything fancy (could be a toilet if you want), I\'d just like to see if it can be done.

um, white stuff is almost exactly the same, when I was talking to the perry twins, they said so as well. Basicly, it isn\'t going to make a difference.

Judging by the insane amount of incredible work they do, I would tend to believe whatever they say!

White stuff is not exactly the same as green stuff. White is stiffer to work with than green when first mixed and is softer (or more rubbery) once set. These properties ,however, are of little or no value over green stuff for sculpting minis. I think the Perrys probably meant to say that it makes no difference which you use, not that there is no difference at all.

White Stuff is cool for something else as well. If you scan in a banner design and flip it in a graphics programme and then print it out, you should try rolling out a hump of White Stuff over it. When you\'ve covered the design in an equally thick layer, cut it out and shape it like a banner, then let it set. When set, wash the paper off with soap and warm water, the ink will have transferred to the White Stuff, no more banner painting! we just found that out by accident one day...

some modelling shops sell it, but best thing to do is to look for kneadenite (I probably misspelt it...) on the net and look for suppliers from there.

Yeh, that\'s probably true, I was just illustrating that it isn\'t going to make it impossible to sculpt anything. Oh, and supervike, I got a little minute with them at baltimore in 2002.

I only posted this after useing it for some years, and ,no matter how I mix it, it\'s like trying to sculp something out of rubber. It also seems to have trouble sticking to anything that it\'s sculpted onto.

i might suggest that you work with it yourself before posting the gw position on it (after all they are trying to sell it).

Well I have used both, though mainly white stuff now, after they switched it in the US. Next time I visit England, I\'m going to buy some green stuff to see.

Have used both . . . , the white stuff sucks, it mixes poorly and is harder to work with then Green stuff, as in \"harder\". AND green stuff is back, at least in my local shops. All the white stuff is gone and there is nothing but green stuff. Yeah!

New (ish) Green Stuff

Check out the Heresy miniatures site. Andy there is selling some new GS that comes in two completely separate sticks (like Milliput) ie you don\'t get that premature curing effect the strips exhibit where the two components touch.

Check your local GW store (if you have one) or your local GW supplier. They seem to be carrying Green Stuff again instead of the white... at least they are here in NYC and apparently other places.

Yah, my local store has switched back to GStuff, I guess the change was temporary...I haven\'t noticed any real difference between the two, mainly because I got shitty results each time. If I didn\'t have the dexterity of an elephant, I\'m sure the quality would matter to me more..........as it is, I prefer GStuff, mainly because its nice n\' purty when its done. Whitestuff gets kinda gunky and dirty....

Reaper Minatures sells Kneadatite in the separate cylinder package for $13.99. Next time I need some, I\'ll just have my local store order it from his supplier.

If you need GS, you can go to www.reapermini.com and order it. Or ask your local gaming shop to get it from Reaper from you. Shame on GW for offering Kneadatite Blue/White as opposed to Blue/Green. It\'s more expensive per ounce and SUCKS.
