Hello!

I just thought I\'d pop in and say hello, as I\'ve finally made the scary move of posting my first image up on CMoN for public consumption. (It might still be pending review, it\'s just been posted)

I\'ve been lurking about for a while, and been getting scared off by the awsome quality of much of the work I see, but hope to at least be able to pick up a few pointers while lurking in the back corner somewhere.

I\'ve only been painting miniatures for a few months, and not all that frequently unfortunately, so my \"style\" is still a little primitive, but that just means that the only way is up!

Thanks for the great inspiration, motivation and information I\'ve spied on so far, and I hope to be lurking for considerable time to come :)

Here are a couple of samples of what I\'ve done so far.

Welcome to the boards, Cyl.

Your painting is good and clean (always a great start) and the photos are far better than I can do. Just remember that practice is the best way to improve.

Greetings and welcome

For a few months, you\'re doing great. You seem like a natural, as your painting is already really neat. Just keep on working on your technique, \'cause you\'ve got a good foundation.

the pics are good, too, better than I\'ve ever managed. The third one down seems like it could do with a bit of contrast, though. mebbe it\'s just the background, I\'m not sure.

Thank\'s for the welcome :)

@Hinton: Thanks :) I\'m no pro-photographer (far from it) but I\'ve posted some details of how I cheaply achieved these new photographs on my webbie. All it took was a cheap light, a cheap surround, and a half-decent camera.

@Nelson: yeah, that one was taken when the last setup was new, and I was a bit keen with the Photoshop adjustments.

@Larre: lol - they are awfull aren\'t they! I\'ve been trying to take a bit more care about those now that I know how damned obvious they are once painted.
