Gretchin for Charity - Cregan's LA Project

I have finally finished the minor conversions to the Gretchin set I bought for Little Angels and I am very pleased by the results:

I'm calling this squad the "GEER HEDZ". All of the parts you see were scavanged by me from either watches I bought on the cheap from yard sales for just such a purpose, or from an old camera I dismantled.

Yesterday I started to base the skin- I'll be using Dark Angel's Green for the basecoat. My plan is to highlight the skin up to a light olive green at the highest points. I've got a nice teal color that I'm going to use as a glaze for the darkest shadows- not sure if that'll give me the effect I'm going for, but I'll try it and see.

Very nice grots. It'll be interesting to see how those watch parts come together to make a cohesive squad in the painting phase.

They're looking really good. Should be real nice with some paint on. Really like what you've done with the grotpole...

After a 2 day marathon painting session, I've finally finished the skin on my greenskins. I haven't finished the eyes or the lips yet. You can also get an idea of the color scheme I've come up with for the Geer Hedz.

What do you guys think?

yeah like these ones. very good skincolor. :good:
i think the 'boss' should have a darker color tho, just to make him stand out a bit from the grotz

Like I said on WAMP, love the greens. SkelletetS makes a point about darkening up the boss though. That might be an idea. Some Leviathan Purple glazes maybe? Good luck on the auction when the time comes too!

I tried purple over green skin once, and just couldn't get a color I thought was acceptable at all. I'd suggest a strong wash of Devlan Mud instead, if you want him darker. Or Gryphonne Sepia to yellow him a bit.

More progress on the Geer Hedz- I've finished almost everything that isn't a weapon on these guys... which boils down to almsot everything that won't be painted metallic. I tried out a couple of new recipes for the fur and for the leather and I think it turned out really good. I'm also extremely pleased with the 2 day stubble I added to the Ork Runtherd- I think it gives him a lot of character. I did darken down the Ork some with a couple washes of Devlan Mud.

What do you guys think? I'd love to hear your feedback.

I've finished 3 of the grots, except for basing- that'll be the last thing I do for all of them. I tried out some new things with my metallics that turned out very well. My camera isn't picking up on all of the little color changes that you can see in person, so I'm starting to think about getting a new camera.

At this rate I should have this group finished and on ebay in 2 weeks.

FYI: the writing on the gun in the middle says "BANG"- it was hard to find a color that shows up good on that metallic paint.

cool guys! i think the metal's need more work (shading) though, it doesn't look to be the same level as the other areas (might be the photos) as mentioned before especially the skin looks really really great.

Hi Cregan, I think they're some of the nicest work I've seen you turn out :good: Well done, I hope they raise oodles of cash for the cause :) Cheers, B.

Here's the next batch of 3 grots. That leaves 4 more grots and the runherd before I'm done.

For the grot on the right, I've been thinking about basing him so he's peeking out of tall grass, like a sniper. I'll just have to keep the grass sparse so it doesn't obscure the paint job.

All of the gretchin are finally done! The Runtherd is about 95% done- I just have to paint a couple of bits I added to him, but his Squig is only ~50% done.

I'm hoping to have this squad completely finished and based before Saturday so I can take them to my local gaming shop to show off, inform people about the Little Angels auctions, and maybe try to get a commission or two :D
