I've been working on this squad for a long time now. I've always liked the design of these minaitures and I finally picekd them up over a year ago so I could write a review of them as my application piece to become a reviewer for WAMP. Took me a lot longer to finally decide to paint them.
All that was left for me to do was sculpt the asphalt bases, which fit the theme of the rest of my army. These guys were my first attempt at painting lightning style power weapons, which I think are a nice effect but they really don't look like lightning to me. I used metallic paint for the metals and Quick Shade Strong to give them an initial shade. I ended up painting over almost all of the shade with darker metallic colors and reinforced the highlights bby going all the way up to Mithril Silver with pure Skull White for reflection points. The flower are actually real flowers from my back yard that I preserved. I painted the petals to make them pop and so that their intensity would match the rest of the mini. I didn't use them on all of the bases because I found a couple batches of them hadn't preserved properly and were falling apart when I touched them.
I won 2nd place in the 2010 Hobby Town Model Competition with the Captain from this group.
