Grot for local competition WIP(updated 3/28)

This is my First post on the Coolminiornot forums so please take it easy on me, I decided to poast here because i know that most of you are very helpfull and are willing to help out NOOBS like me, all I want is some feedback see what you guys think.

I know you guy\'s, the serious 40K players are going to hate me for this but the only rule in this competition is that the grots skin is painted green other than that it\'s unrestricted...

That GS banner sucks..... no wait that\'s not right.... it\'s like sucks but is spelt different and means something else.... er.. rocks that\'s it

That GS banner ROCKS :D

Seing as you seem to he handy with the old GS how about sculpting the little guy a new nose extension. It\'s so easy to make the old gobbos look like the newer Brian Nelson sculpts just by making the nose long and pointy.

lol @ Undave. Gobbo cosmetic surgery! Maybe you could plump out his lips a little while you\'re at it?

Seriously great work with the banner, very cool. He might blow away in a breeze though!

i like your work.. its really clean & well done... I dont like the head.. i dont think it fits the mini.. why is he holding a head & a tool box?.. id drop the head & give him a wrench or a gun.. the head just dont sit right witj me.. but over all it looks really good

I have a personal vendetta against minis holding a severed head like that, I think I agree that the mechanic look could\'ve been emphasized without it. Neat model though, can\'t say I\'ve ever seen it before.

Thanks guys for the comment\'s this thread will be updated soon since im painting my grot as we speak(taking a break) but I\'ll be right on it after im done posting.

After Taking a break and posting here is the progress that I have made so far. After seeing the pictues I can see that I need to do something with the teeth, hope you like him so far.....

agree, the green looks fine, but the lips and partly the ears look a bit out of place in that light color

You know, when you have such a lathe flat area, I think I\'d go for a slightly more... advanced freehand than just a chess-pattern, great stuff otherwise, the lips and ears might just need a shade of a darker color, and a lighter highlight, otherwise

I agree with Hygmer about the banner - the GS is great but the painting can be expanded. I also think you should add definition to the skin by adding another highlight or two. I actually like the ears a lot, so unlike so many others here I think you should keep them as they are. However, something could probablt be done to the lips to tone them down a little.
